The University of Leeds is one of the largest universities in the UK with more than 33,200 students. The institution offers some 560 undergraduate and 300 postgraduate programs in arts and performing arts, biological sciences and medicine, business, education and law, engineering, environment, and math and physical science. The university is divided into nine faculties, which are further divided into schools, institutes, and centers. It is the third largest employer in Leeds, with a staff of more than 7,860. Notable alumni include author J.R.R. Tolkien, astronaut Dr. Piers Sellers, and physicist Sir William Bragg.
