Subject: Why are you guys upset that this stock is down?
IF you are a true believer, you should be happy that the stock is down
due to Barrons article, that means you can snap up more shares cheap. Warren Buffer says he gets happy when great company shares go cheaper since it offers the opportunity to go long and buy more cheaper. But I suspect you guys are more of a short term speculator who just saw your "Easy" profits go down the tube. Long-term investors who believe in a companies fundamentals and future prospects would not care if Mr. Market decides to drop the price 10%, a long-term investor would see it as an opportunity not a loss. Buffet's quote is "when great company shares go cheaper" - I think

sure I still stand by my position and yes I will buy more as well when
I think its as low as it will go for now. Its more the whole concept that I am upset about. These reporting companies should not be reporting things like the article we saw. They had no new information and based the entire article on illegal information from a government insider. That is pathetic that a company is willing to post something like that knowing full well what will happen as a result. I don't I think FRE/FNM is a poor investment and why I like taking
short positions in FRE/FNM. but I keep hearing all these investors getting upset over this Barrons article. They should be happy since like warren says "when great company shares go cheaper" Unless these new FRE/FNM investors do not consider FRE/FNM a great company and were trading on the "Greater fool theory" and just realized they are the last fool in line and ended up without a chair to sit when the music stopped. I myself want to be long on FRE, but when the article is saying what

Hey guys this company lost money last quarter. Not a tiny wound, it
hemorrhaged cash. Why do you think that means share price will go up? This price will go up in next earnings but that will be based on speculation only. If it bleeds green again it will fall even farther. Warren Buffet did value based investing, this is speculative investing because this company is tanking and you are all hoping for a bail out. Think about the bigger picture people. How many people realize that
FRE and FNM's survival does not just affect their share holders? I don't think people realize that whether your short, long, or neither if FRE or FNM goes under every american dollar you own will be immediatly worth less. People here need to learn a bit about Graham/Dodd, Warren buffet,
learn about value investing and buying great companies at cheap prices. So many great opportunities in this bear market but it seems individual investors seem to repeat the same mistakes over and over. They either think they got one over Mr. Market by buying what they think are "Cheap stocks" for a quick profit, or they chase the hot stock of the week and load up on things like "GLD,POT,IPI" etc.. and get burned. Most folk buying FRE/FNM cant understand how to read financial statements, yet somehow think they are beating the market and just plow hard earned savings on a bad gamble. the fact of the matter remains " this is a short term
investment" ,take as much profits as you can and get. i feel this way, coz the fundamentals are not strong, and unless the fundamentals are not strong,any rise in stock price is only short term ,sideways and speculative. i am long on this at $7 You must Sign in before you can post messages.

If it was a short term trade, you took the wrong side of the trade.
You should have taken a short position. When a company is rotting and emotional buyers (Thundering herd) push the price up the smart move is to take a short position. Why is there so much volume? Volatility. A drop of 10% causes a lot

I don't think there is much Bernanke could say to rally this stock.
Oil is down, commodities are down, gold is down, USD is up, consumer confidence is increasing, and still FRE drops like a brick. Honestly, if you have to hope in bernanke to rally this stock, you have a worthless investment strategy. Go to the bookstore and buy investment books and texts. Read them

It's been known for a long time that FRE/FNM shares would almost
certainly be diluted, meaning lowering the common stock's value. And as for the companies failing, the article says nothing about that. The government would never allow such a thing to happen, as said before, because it would destroy confidence in the dollar. None of that means that the government will protect shareholders. They want to protect foreign investment, because if foreign investment gets fucked we won't have anyone to buy all our shit credit. The government could care less about common shareholders. Nothing to do with Dollar... shareholders have already been preety
much wiped out.. if govt steps in they will need to recapitalize with at least $20-30B in each company.. CHIP CHANGE FOR GOVT... they will not let these GSEs fail.. its simply finding a real backing. Of course.. the shareholder... is toast in its current form... Govt wont hesitate to pump in cash.. in some form... as its been stated my many of the longs.. the GSEs MUST survive... problem is.. we (I am long on this as well) are only worth about $3B by best estimates since most of our equity has been wiped out by write downs. The only way we survive is if govt dilutes our equity further by pumping in cash.. share price drops to $1...(assuming a 15B issue exclusive to govt) and WE WAIT for housing rebound.. IF GOVT nationalizes... good night.. we're toast.. So basically.. best case scenario for us is to get diluted...
