I'm seeing this as a good investment over the next year or so... World
Cup next year, surely that should result in some decent periods for
bookies, and should boost Ladbrokes a bit?

I agree, whilst the rights issue was a unnerving alongside the poor
financial performance. There doesn't appear to be any reason to expect
profits to remain low. I'm expecting some support for the shares at
about 130, but I've bought in quite happily at 135.
