Subject: Diversifying into Smart Phone segment can really enrich DELL
DELL is to computer manufacturing segment what WALMART is to retail.

They are learning from their rivals (acquiring an IT service company,
to rival HP and IBM) and now their diversification into Smart Phone
segment could not have come at a better time!

Mobile computing and hand held devices are the future branches of
computer industry. Laptops will continue to become smaller and line
between netbooks and mobile phones will continue to blurr.

DELL's move into this segment is very very smart.

If Mini 3 gets even reasonable response in China and Brazil (which is
very likely), DELL's future will look much much brighter by early
2010. (which translates to jump in stock prices)

Michel Dell reminds me of a fairly tale of a king, who had a boon that
turned everything into gold that he touched.
I am a big Fan and loyal investor!

Is this an attempt at PR? Or are you auditioning for some dubious
private role in Michael's private office?

Over the past five years, Dell has had to branch out from the business
model that makes Apple so successful [direct retail], and has had to
resort to selling cheaply made products through discount stores at
virtually no profit. The reasons for this are manifold, but poor
customer satisfaction would seem to be the most obvious, along with
poor management, lagging technology, and shoddy, unimaginative product
design.

In that same period, their stock has plummeted from $40.44 to $15.96
TODAY!

And so to Michael Dell himself, the man described below by another
poster as "fairly tale of a king, who had a boon that turned
everything into gold that he touched."

I have to say, we're wetting ourselves with laughter here at that
comment, as we did the day he had to eat his own comment of October 6,
1997, when he was asked what he would do if he owned then-troubled
Apple Computer, he said "I'd shut it down and give the money back to
the shareholders."

Not only has Apple's market cap since surpassed that of Dell, it's
done so by a factor of nearly 6 x, or $186,107.20M to just
$31,211.75M.

And, if I'm to understand you correctly, your premise is that this
'new' Mini 3 [which I had to Google to discover what it was] is going
to cause: "DELL's future will look much much brighter by early 2010.
(which translates to jump in stock prices) "

Why? All they've done is follow Apple into the smart phone market, by
riding the already crowded, and decidedly flimsy Android programme.
Not content with imitating Microsoft's obvious fail by not launching
the Zune globally, Dell aren't even launching the Mini 3 in the USA!

The huge size of the Chinese mobile phone market notwithstanding, the
only advantage for Dell here is the obvious saving in the cost of
shipping. Global branding depends upon a global visibility. releasing
a product exclusively into China, a market already massively well
supplied by home producers, is a disaster waiting to happen. Dell's
message is clear: "We're making an iPhone competitor, but we haven't
got the courage to compete with it in the same marketplace, or even
our own home marketplace.

Well, thank you for the comedy, on what was otherwise a fairy average
day, but I think you need to do two things: Take a modest profit on
Dell immediately and adjust your medication.
