Names like COP, being an integrated, are a tough call. nat gas is
turning but if this year is any thing like last year it won't
significant until the 3rd week of November. And if crude can't break
through 73, it will be a tough week for all of the crude oil names.

Got in around $42, COP is definitely on the rise with the rest of the

google is incorrect... q1 +.52 q2 +.97 so far estimates for q3
and q4 are+.98 and +1.13... estimated earning per share should be

From what I can make of it, COP is ready to head back upwards, most
likely around $46 or $47 for next week according to the fund
distribution histogram that I am studying. Regardless of where it
reaches to next week, it all looks positive according to my trend
analysis charts. Hope they're right.

the expectation for earnings next week should be blown away when they
announce. Down from last year yes but probably double what the street
expects. Or at least that is what we are betting on.

I agree for the most part. What is your take on the earnings reports
due in a couple of weeks?
In my opinion, the analysts have been slow in revising their estimates
and are basing their
figures on < $50 oil.

I think most of the Integrateds have had a blockbuster quarter and the
stock prices have to catch up.

down because people just don't trust the oil rally. Another quarter

above $65. My view is that they are being held down by the hedged
short Integrated/long Oil Service trade which is due for an unwind

Your oil charts look like oil is really breaking down. Looks like the
move from $66 up to $70 just fizzled out near 70.
I dont see it getting lower than $50, unless momentum takes hold. My
only concern is when breakdown takes place as I am concentrating on
some crude related trades now.

Agreed, we need to ignore all of the analyst at this point, especially
Government Sachs! The only thing beating up COP right now is the
weakness in natural gas, I use to use COP for my nat gas play before
UNG became liquid enough to be able to rely on getting a decent bid.

2010 earnings for COP are projected to double from here by about 25
different analysts. Goldman has been very self serving on their
upgrades and downgrades if you look at what they trade in SEC reported
positions. I think their downgrade is bogus.
