I was sold one HP PC at a CompUSA a couple of years back and it was
the worst computer I have ever owned.

Whats more is buying anything from HP is rewarding a company which is
firing American workers and offshoring their jobs to Brazil and India
and anyplace they can setup a sweat shop.  This is the time for the
new American patriotism, which means buying American.  NOT
BRAZILIAN!

HP=BRAZILIAN

Actually moving jobs to Costa Rica. Not sure where you heard of
Brazil. And what was wrong with your HP computer, I am sure it had
nothing to do with the software install and all to do with the
hardware. ;)

He also bought it from CompUSA, no offense, I would never do that. No
telling how many layers of subsidy exist between HP and CompUSA. It
was probably a great computer right out of the box, but the image has
so many extras. There's also no report here of what kind of computer /
specs / problems you've had. Just a random bashing of HP products with
no validation or evidence. Of course my employee discount on HP
products does help me. :)

HP has the HQ in Palo Alto but more workforce across the globe than
you realize. It's a global company. If Americans on the helpdesk were
half as smart and were willing to take a paycut, the jobs would be
here. People only complain b/c they think someone in India is an idiot
b/c he or she can't comprehend you.

If you want HP to pull jobs back in the US, you better be willing to
pay 3x the amount of "the worst computer you ever owned"

I suppose you work at HP and are willing to take a pay cut?

HP is no model company at all.  HP's offshore workforce is not
cheaper ... you get what you pay for.
If HP mgmt was not so greedy then more jobs could be kept here in the
US too.

Folks -

Let us tone down a bit ! We are moving into territory that is unwanted
and uncalled for. Post the serial # of your laptop and the problem and
whether it has warranty or not and let us see what we can do about it
~ instead of talking about Brazil, Costa-Rica and India. Make no
mistake - US does not have the amount of manpower that is needed and
hence offshoring had started.

Regards,
HPguy

Absolutely right !
In addition US should and is very happy to have a company such as HP
with all the benefits (money and R&D and +++) in the US and the HP
business
is growing and these "greedy ?" people -HP management and
shareholders-
are not selling it to Acer or Lenovo for $$$$
Just think about it ! Buy American = Buy HP
Have a good day

Offshoring has nothing to do with finding talent they failed to find
in America.  Its about ways to fatten the bottom line so Mark Hurd can
grab more 23 million dollar bonuses.  Please lets not kid ourselves
that he is doing it because its necessary.  Its like schools turning
away good teachers for decades in the USA in favor of their twisted
deranged insider friends and then crying they cant find good teachers
while the entire educational system in America goes into the toilet.
HP is taking a similar ride on the fantasy train gang.  Invest at your
own peril.

Brazil, keep up with current events.
Offshoring is all about greed.  Do you think HP will pass the savings
on to the consumer.  Think again, it will not happen. Are you willing
to take a pay-cut?  My guess is NO.

Fully agree with Rayford and Bob, offshoring is about current bottom
line and has nothing to do with US workers.  Offshoring doesn't save
money in the long run but there's no way to quantify the # of
customers lost due to the offshoring of products.

Mark Hurd's greed and the rest of the executive group's greed is
disgusting!  Executives take more perks that they can afford to pay
for but don't.  This permeates all the way down to the director level
yet HP takes away benefits and imposes pay cuts all the way down to
the hourly workers.
      www.forbes.com/lists/2009/12/best-boss-09_Mark-V-Hurd_7UTB.html
Hurd has bumped up the bottom line at the expense of the workers and
it will show at some point.  He's made it into a dog-eat-dog company
where no one works together since he's built this "look out for
yourself first" attitude.  Watch for a slow down or revolution
within ...  The board members are just as much at fault for allowing
this to go on when workers get pay cuts.

Tax the hell out of companies that offshore is one solution.
