at $26.50.

Did you ever walk in a Home Depot store lately...the customer's are
just buying small ticket items like: furnace filters, light bulbs,
lawn fertilizer...etc.  No big ticket items like windows, doors...etc.
Nothing like it used to be but their expenses are still the same. It
reminded me more of Circuit City with employees just standing around.

Any idea why HD is going to sell Martha Stewart stuff and why this
will help HD's stock price? Seems odd to me.

One of the traders recommended HD as a better spec play on the housing
turnaround than the home builders. A little bit of a green light for
HD....

It’s more than just credit holding back the home improvement sector
today. The consumer is hesitant about putting more money in their home
while it’s still a shrinking asset. There is NO guarantee anymore that
the price of the home will go up after the improvements. When you
think about how ridiculous putting more money in the banks home (if
you have a mortgage) miss three payments and your out on the street.
It will take years before the confidence returns to the 2004-2006
levels and it’s getting worse not better like our administration wants
everyone to believe.

Consumers are increasingly not getting the credit they want to finance
bathroom, kitchen, media room and outdoor upgrades:

"Oct. 7 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. consumer credit fell in August for a
seventh straight month, as banks kept restrictive lending terms in
place and job losses made households reluctant to borrow. "

I'm looking to buy HD if it gets down to $24.28. I think it has
limited downside at that price. the upside may have to wait until
2010, but the dividend is good enough to sit on for awhile.

sales eventually pick up (overseas demand in particular due to a weak
dollar) but with inventories so lean companies need to hire back
workers to restock. will most likely be a very slow process. home
buyers overcome some of their fear and start buying a little.
