Subject: AAPL will hit 300's by January
After Leopard hits this Friday, Apple is going to be releasing a
marketing plan like never before. Don't even get me started on next
years plans, we will see product updates and new innovative products
that tackle the industry harder then it did this year. I love how
Apple goes up 11 points in one day but when it falls down just a
fraction of that, everyone believes the stock is on its way to 160 or
lower. If anyone is waiting for a low point to buy in apple stock, I
would buy from this point on until Thursday. Once Leopard hits, we
will not see the stock drop. Also... the stock will hit 300's due to
amazing international sales. Ask anyone in the UK or France, they are
dying to get their hands on an iPhone. You think the iPhone did
amazing sales in the US? It will be nothing compared to the sales it
will accomplish internationally. The release of 3rd party developers
will make the iPhone the next technology epidemic.

see it top 200 soon :)

People laughed when that one guy set a target of 200. I cant remember
his name, but he wrote some article about it.

honestly though, 300 is unreasonable. 250 would be a stretch as well.

I don't think he meant 300 by January... but that it will go up to 300
at some point in 2008.

Apple's on a similar trajectory to Google. It's an amazing company
with amazing performance, and they're firing on all cylinders.

Cheers,

I know it is hard for a lot of you to believe but I did mean 300 by
January. We are going to see a christmas season like never before.
Also, The iPhone is going to reach an international epidemic, meaning
that eveyone thats not homeless will go as far as taking out a loan to
get one. People in the US think the iPone is pretty cool.
Internationally the iPhone is seen as a product God, everything they
could ever want. A lot of them have no bought ipods and such only to
wait for the iPhone. You have to understand how people think
internationally, an iPhone does it all, its everything in one product,
it makes complete sense to hold out and purchase one for them. Its
just another way of thinking that the rich United States does does not
do. Ok let me paint a picture, say an individual in the UK buys an
iphone. He or she feels that they have just saved hundreds and
hundreds of dollars by buying an all in one product. They will go as
far as to cancle there at home internet access to make this iPhone do
EVERYTHING they want. The iPhone is their chance to save a lot of
money wile being capable of doing everything they want it to. Once
again, APPLE will hit 300 by January hands down.

Well, let's see. AAPL was at $115 around two months ago. Since then,
it has gained some 60%. If it were to continue on a similar
trajectory, $300 would be where it would land in the next two months.
Now, I know that August was a bad example, since AAPL first touched
$115 in May. Still, as we all know, summer months tend to be dead
months in the market and we could easily just take them out of the
equation anyway. In addition, the next two months are expected to
bring enormous growth in revenue/profts for Apple for reasons stated
very many times already.

My personal, totally inexperienced opinion is that $300 is not likely
by January, but I am not going to be totally surprised if it actually
does hit $300 during MacWorld Expo.

not be achivable by Jan 08, but it may be Jan 09 for sure.

At 67% growth rate, We may see 300-360s by around October of next
year.
If they somehow happen to grow much faster than 67%, then we'll see
300-360 even sooner
than October.

either way, anytime apple drops it's a good time to buy. it rarely
goes down much, and it rarely stays down long. i do what a lot of
people do, i short every time i can. i bought monday before earnings.
sold tuesday at the highest point after earnings. bought more today
and i'll sell again after it goes up. holding long is great too, if
you want to hold for a year and save on capital gains, but i dont
think there's much need to ever hold on to apple when all the day
traders are making a crap load buying and selling this stock
constantly.

Hi all,

Well, I am European, from Greece. What this guy says is in a way
true... I personaly have never bought a cell phone in my life... All
cell phones are free in my country, provided that you sign a contract
with a carrier... You sign a 1 year contract - you get a free phone.

But... since I first saw the iPhone... let me tell you, I will buy it
one the first day it gets released here, whatever the cost... And I
know many many people who are also waiting to buy it...

Alex

I totally agree with the international view!

iPhone will sell more this xmas season than anything ever did!
Europeans are used to pay + 500$ for a cellphone, just ask Nokia, and
iPhone has such a buzz, such a momentum! You really won't believe what
apple is set for in Europe! It will be such an amazing season! Ground
breaking, record setting, everything! And, think about this, apple
won't spend a dime with stores, people, etc, everything is provided
directly by the cell operators in each country! Genius thinking!

This iPhone momentum has affected mac's too, everybody is buying macs
nowadays! It's chic, it's trendy, and it's expensive, and people love
to spend money this season! Everybody knows this, specially Steve.

Just waiting for a day like today to buy in some more!

The guys opinion about France is correct. But as far as Europe and the
UK, this is a different story. Also, France is a different type of
society. They don't hype a product up. Meaning, they do not think
about a product until they can actually buy it. To them, what is the
point of going crazy over something you can't even have at the moment.
When the product releases, you will start to see opinions change. The
French are calm people, there is no need for them to get hyped up over
something, its just part of their society. Look at marketing plans for
the French, its completely different.

300 by Jan 2008 is not going to happen, and you really should restrain
yourself from making outrageous claims and trying to ground them in
some half-truths because some folks read this board for real stock
advice (unfortunately) and may believe you. Maybe 220-240 if we're
lucky and the market does not have any real bad news, etc. I'm all for
being optimistic but that is a ridiculous number.

Subject: Re: AAPL will hit 300's by January
While the enthusiasm/optimism here regarding European attitudes toward
(and thus future sales of) iPhones may be somewhat overstated, the
original poster does touch on an important point: people in Europe
have not yet bought iPods in anything like the numbers in the U.S. I
think the latest figures I saw for iPod market share in Europe was
somewhere between 12-20%, compared to 75-80% in the U.S. (Someone
correct these figures if you have better info.)

Why is this important? Because the iPhone has generated so much buzz
and media attention that far more European consumers are going to be
taking another look at (or a first look at) the iPod Touch and the
rest of the iPod lineup.  In other words, even if iPhone sales in
Europe are only moderately successful, the "halo effect" will drive a
huge percentage increase in iPod sales. Once that happens, Apple
achieves the kind of critical mass they've long been lacking in the
major EU markets, and the whole thing becomes a kind of self-driving
marketing and sales machine... More and more people buy iPods, more
iPods leads to greater awareness of other Apple products (like the
iPhone and Mac computers), more iPhones and Mac computers are sold,
leading (again) to more and more iPod sales...  Well, you get the
picture. This is exactly what happened in the U.S., except the ramp-up
took longer because there wasn't a super-hot, super-hyped product like
the iPhone to kick start the process. (That's why it took 2+ years to
achieve iPod sales comparable to what the iPhone sold in just 90+
days.)

Bottom line:  $300 by January seems unlikely--but $300 by March is
not. (IMHO, of course.) Holiday quarter sales in EU markets have the
strong potential to fuel substantial and *sustained* increases in
sales in those markets going forward. By sustained, I mean going well
beyond the holiday period or the initial launch of the iPhone in those
markets. We could easily see Apple's EU market sales grow by 100% or
more per quarter next year... there's that much room for upside
overseas.

I know I am getting a lot of negative views on my 300 prediction. To
be honest, my prediction was 350 by the end of January. This might
seem even more outrageous I know, but come January I am going to
repost this discussion and we will see what happens. Even if we see a
number no where near 300, I will still post. I will be more shocked
then anyone if we do not hit 300. I have studied the power that
epidemics (yes there can be a good epidemics) can generate and Apple
is actually starting one as we speak. We will not see a technology
epidemic like this for at least 10 years to come. At the same time I
know I will be ridiculed for this prediction again and again, but
there is nothing stopping this epidemic, Leopard will only be the
start.
