AAPL may well become part of the DJIA, and, given the incredibly
stupid way the DJIA is computed, a split may be required for AAPL to
participate.

Still, I think it's clear that short-term pressures on AAPL are going
to be negative, as they were the last time the NASDAQ index
rebalanced.  There are a lot of index funds that are going to be
dumping AAPL as it is down weighted.  There should be some
compensating pressure as AAPL is picked up by funds that can only
purchase dividend granting stocks, but this probably won't happen
until summer.

In the meantime, I don't expect next couple of quarters to be a blow-
outs, except on a y/y basis. They're likely to be down some from last
quarter. Apple will announce new Macs, but they constitute a
relatively small part of Apple's sales and earnings. The iPad will
continue to sell, but sales of the iPhone 4S will come under negative
pressure as people begin to defer purchase of iPhones in anticipation
of the iPhone 5. There's also no major holiday season, as there was
last quarter in China, and the quarter before here.

Will we get to $1000 (split adjusted, if necessary). I think so. But
I'll be surprised if we get there before February '13.
