Finally, National Fuel Gas has an article on Wikipedia (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Fuel_Gas ).

But, I'm not sure if the Wikipedia teenagers are going to allow the
article, being that it was written by a paid-editing site:

Anyone know why this has a downward slant this past month? I bought in
(my first stock purchase) early June and it looks like it's been going
down slowly.

FridayTrader has given the buy order on NFG.
Buy up to: $61.00  Sell at $63.00.

This stock has very strong characteristics that should make this an
easy 7 day or less play.

Hope this helps.

First it was the Mountain, now it is Vanquard, I think I found a home,
I feel like a minnow in a school of sharks, I just have to wait and
see where they take me. This is real interesting. Over 15% of the
stock in two hands. I may have missed something, but I think
institutions are going to be on more boards in the future. I think if
I was Vanquard, I would like a seat at the table also. $200 million is
not chicken feed.

I have a feeling this can be a real growth company. I think the next
play is to reduce the price of the stock by increasing the number of
shares. I would like to see the stock trade in the $20.00 range,
increase the number of shareholders and add new capital for
development in the New York area. The Noyan Prospect, located along
the line north of Alburg, Vermont, is estimated to have in situ gas
potential of 20.67 Bcf distributed between 5 stratigraphic units to a
depth of 3,300 meters: Stony Point, Trenton, Chazy, Beekmantown and
Potsdam. More stratigraphy and structure of the Noyan Prospect could
be compared with the northernmost Vermont, the Champlain and Highgate
Springs thrust. Vermont has gas, we just need to get someone like NFG
interested.

Congratulations to both sides for seeing the light. This can only
help the company and us stockholders. Opening up more development in
the Eastern Overthrust belt is going to make a difference. I hope the
company leases acreage in Vermont. The area is ripe for a natural gas
resurgence. This is the last bastion for the fuel oil lobby and it is
time to have some competition.

New Mountain will go for the guggler now, I know what I have lost and
I am sure glad I haven't got into this company what they have. I don't
think the discount rate is going to save the economy. In our area it
is the price of fuel, gas and everything in between. The money has
dried up in little old Vermont.

Wow, the stock market has created an interesting scenario for New
Mountain. I would say they have a good case with the current erosion
of value. This is going to be a battle now.

I am really surprised with the lack of interest in the stockholder
base of this company. I have tried to keep myself informed on the
debate, but it seems to me, the two sides have no compromising
position. When some group with as much power as appears to be the case
has no voice on the board, this is cause for me to wonder, what is
there to hide, and on the other hand, maybe the request for three
positions is out of line, but the people being considered have some
very impressive records. Maybe after all is said and done, there will
be a compromising position. I ran corporations with boards of 30
people and everyone of them contributed. The real power was in the
executive committee and we did well

Obviously you are more informed than me on this stock, however, on the
basis of the gains I have made on this stock it seems management is
hold the trump card. If the stock was going in the opposite direction,
I am sure there would be more action on the part of New Mountain
Vantage. I really do not think NMV is big enough to run this company.
Looking at their portfolio, they really are not energy people. I have
a feeling this company is in play and will be purchased by another
sizeable utility holding company or one of the major pipeline
companies vieing for this lucrative and expanding market. Don Rowan

Subject: NFG Management: No F'n Good

Given that I recently closed out a portion of my call position and all
of my common shares for a very nice gain, I should probably not post
anything terribly negative on the Company. However, like many of its
other investors, I'm increasingly disappointed with the quality of
management at NFG and figured I'd write something here about them
anyway.

Following the recent earnings release, and call, my respect for them
went down faster than the price of NFG stock (or calls) did when the
market realized that NFG management was going to fight every single
initiative put forward by New Mountain Vantage.

I plan to write much more on this later, but for now I'd just like to
point out that management is attempting to take credit for two things
that are almost entirely outside of their control and which in all
likelihood have happened in spite of them: the rise in earnings and in
share price.

The rise in earnings has been due to increases in the commodity prices
for the products they sell, and we got a big increase this past
quarter especially (as past, very low hedges came off). This bull
market in commodities has led to more than just rising earnings for
the company, it has led market participants to invest in NFG since the
value of the Company's shale and sand opportunity--which could be
worth almost double today's market cap--doesn't appear to be priced
into the stock at all. Buying from the likes of these institutions is
what has caused the share price to rise, again despite a variety of
moves that management has taken which have been anything but good for
shareholders.

Some of the above moves include limiting the numer of shares that big
institutions can buy before a job protection plan--I mean poison pill--
is triggered, choosing to withhold more information from the owners of
the Company than could ever be justified, and more generally
allocating capital towards either inferior or non-core assets.

Contrary to what management would have us believe, the rising earnings
of the company have been due almost entirely to the energy bull
market--and the very healthy performance of the Company's share price
over the past 12 months is almost entirely due to the buying in large
amounts by institutions which management barely deigns to respond to,
who are interested in assets that management either talks down or
barely divulges information about. These two points are important to
focus on because they are being used by management to justify their
past actions and future plans.

I continue to think that National Fuel Gas is worth a good bit more
than the shares are pricing in, and think that (like bad hedges of
years past) the moves by management mostly serve to lower the ceiling
on how high the stock can go and how fast. I still have a good portion
of calls on the Company and don't see myself cashing them in any time
soon. But make no doubt about it, this management team will not be the
reason for a successful investment in the Company, if after all is
said and done that is what it turns out to be.
