Ok, now that Ryland missed the number, where's the catastrophic drop?
The results showed essentially no cash flow outside of tax refunds,
revenues down 36.3%, gross margins down 50%, closings down 32%, new
orders down 37.6%, and a LOSS of $1.76/share.

Wasn't the estimate a loss of $1.02?

Or is the street waiting for the conference call tomorrow to drop the

possible retracement after the rally?

Top trendline has been violated for RYL. This was detected by

I bet the rally should continue for at least a couple more days before
possible retracement.

you are right and i agree exactly, it does not seem like the feds
monthly crutches can continue forever, its ridiculous. how do 1/2
unsold subdivisions and the next 1/4 of the homes in foreclosure
parlay into 9% gains.

not to defend ubs or lehman, ryl is a "great" (clear exaggeration)
stock in its sector... they are not comparing it to POT nor do they
project rapid growth ("rapid" sounds really funny when you talk about
homebuilders) like for alt energy stocks etc... obviously you have to
evaluate ryl's position vs competition... in our day and age i don't

smart guy that makes a lot of cash.... take a look when he became ceo,
then take a look at ryl at that time and compare to where it is today
and how much cash it/he made for shareholders.. perhaps that will make
it easier to swallow such outrageous number... btw i agree it is
outrageous but not completely unjustified... like i said... smart

WTF! These guys missed earnings horribly yesterday after market
close, and the stock is still up today. That just makes no sense. I
don't care if the fed is drastically lowing rates, that doesn't change
the fact that inventory is building, no one is buying new houses, and
these guys had HUGE negative earnings. WTF!!!

I totally agree, I am still short RYL and MTH, and might even add to
my position. I think that most of this run in the last couple of days
is short covering by scared investors. I mean, wow, MTH's profit still
drops drastically but because some anyalysts say that it was still
better than estimates, what a load of crap. It's painful to be short
