Subject: Apple to migrate to AMD
Apple is already using AMD's ATI Gpu's in every MAC sold.
Granted, Apple's market share is a small, comparatively relative to
the installed windows base.
As Apple MAC's are the machines of choice across the board for
creative applications users.  I have learned from reliable sources
inside Apple, Apple's Customers are complaining about Apple's Mac
performance slow rendering time on complex graphic applications.
Problem is Apples Cpu, not the AMD ATI GPU's.
The following suggestion is not intended to HYPE AMD.
This is just my opinion, but don't be surprised if Apple migrates
to using AMD's more powerful CPU's units or AMD CPU/AMD ATI GPU SOC as
a solution, starting on the high end top of the line Apple MAC
offerings. Apple refused comment to confirm or deny.
Simply said How do you form a more perfect UNION.  Apple/AMD.
THe GHost

AMD's more powerful CPUs than what? Intel's i7 already in the top of
the line Macs?

I think not.

ATI is not in every Mac sold. They sell a lot of NVidia machines too.

Well, "they" say that 4.40ish is a support range, and the next one is
in the higher 3's. If "they" are right, then things should stabilize
here for a while, and then if it continues to drop then it will drop
hard again. I figure I'll double down when things start their upward
trend, but I wouldn't want to look at the normal fluctuations as an
upward trend until they have done as much for at least a couple days.

CHUM based on past AMD vs iNTEL
assuming punitive damages the win would be worth $3 billion.
a little under $4.30 a share net of legal fees.
also depends on what dilutuion AMD stock takes.
Then it will depend on what they do with the money.

kill them. So that gets my vote.

Subject: Re: Apple to migrate to AMD
RUP in the but: Naw on this.
In late September AMD had introduced the Radeon HD 5850 and Radeon HD
5870 graphics cards as the successors to the Radeon HD 4850 and Radeon
HD 4870, respectively. These graphics cards, which are part of the
Evergreen GPU family, have been performing quite nicely according to
reports, but we have yet to test either of these Cypress graphics
cards under Linux. Today though AMD is introducing the first midrange
graphics cards in the Evergreen family. Under the Juniper codename,
the Radeon HD 5750 and HD 5770 are being launched with both graphics
cards being quite similar except for the ATI Radeon HD 5770 shipping
with slightly higher core and memory clocks along with a different
heatsink. In this review we have the first Linux-based benchmarks of
these two new graphics cards, which are also the first publicized
Linux benchmarks from any AMD Evergreen graphics processor.

[AMD Radeon HD 5750/5770] [AMD Radeon HD 5750/5770] [AMD Radeon HD
5750/5770]
[AMD Radeon HD 5750/5770] [AMD Radeon HD 5750/5770] [AMD Radeon HD
5750/5770]

The Radeon HD 5000 series graphics processors introduce support for
Microsoft DirectX 11. Of course, to a Linux user this does not mean
much, but this is one of the areas being heavily publicized by AMD in
their marketing material. The Radeon HD 5000 series though is
compatible with OpenGL 3.2. Some of the other features that are shared
between the HD 5700 and HD 5800 series are ATI Eyefinity, Stream
Technology, OpenCL, TeraScale2, PCI Express 2.1 x16, and UVD2. While
AMD has shown a 24-monitor Eyefinity setup on Linux, the support has
yet to arrive in their proprietary Catalyst Linux driver. The Unified
Video Decoder 2 (UVD2) support with ATI Avivo HD may also be ignored
by Linux users at this time, as we have been talking about the X-Video
Bitstream Acceleration (XvBA) for a year now and it still has yet to
be usable by ATI Radeon customers, but it finally will be in the very
near future. UVD2 in ATI Radeon hardware will finally mean something
on Linux, but we will have to wait to share more until permitted. AMD
will also be marketing the HD 5770 as a "green" graphics card with
only 18 Watts of power being consumed while idling, 108 Watts max
power consumption, leading performance/Watt, and the graphics cards
only requiring one 6-pin PCI-E power connector.

[AMD Radeon HD 5750/5770] [AMD Radeon HD 5750/5770] [AMD Radeon HD
5750/5770]

The Radeon HD 5750 and 5770 are built on a 40nm process like the other
Evergreen GPUs and each graphics card has over 1.04 billion
transistors. The ATI Radeon HD 5750 has 720 Stream processors, 1GB of
GDDR5 memory, a 700MHz engine clock, 1.008 TeraFLOPS processing power,
1.15GHz memory clock, 73.6GB/sec memory bandwidth, a maximum power
consumption of 86 Watts and just 16 Watts while idling. The ATI Radeon
HD 5770 graphics card has 800 Stream processors, 1GB of GDDR5 memory,
an 850MHz engine clock, 1.36 TeraFLOPS processing power, 1.2GHz memory
clock, 76.8GB/sec memory bandwidth, a maximum power consumption of 108
Watts and just 18 Watts while idling. Both the Radeon HD 5750 and
Radeon HD 5770 are CrossFireX compatible for use with up to two GPUs.
Dual GPU CrossFireX is compatible with the ATI Linux drivers.

CHUM, Yes it's acreative to value so in your term yes on top
of the current price.  Do you think AMD will win.
Hint they have never lost a case brought against intel.
Last time they used the money to build a new Fab in Germany.
Unlike your friendly previous posted who i admire I don't think
they will use the Mulla for a drop dead weight.
Now that AMD is fabless where do you think they should
they spend it? Thats # billion tax flinging free.

The EU fined Intel for about $1.5 billion was it? I would assume this
lawsuit only focuses on potential lost sales within USA, and as
they're not as big a customer to AMD as the entire EU, I'd expect the
fine to be smaller than the EU fine. I'd be interested to learn what
you're basing this $3 billion estimate on, as I've not been following
the case that closely.

I'd be surprised if there's even $1 billion involved, and I assume
Intel is going to try everything they can to delay it, and to avoid
paying it in a big lump sum, because if they're able to pay it slowly
over time, AMD would not be able to pay off a great deal of debt
because most of the payments would just be eaten up by their debt
interest.

AMD in the double digits soon....just kick back and enjoy...  I
