Where does FTO go from here?

It has hit the support level 3 times on a downward trend will it break
though it or bounce off and climb higher?
Any thoughts?

Tar Sands, deep sea, and shale are the only growth areas I can foresee
in the crude industry. I'd say Frontier is positioned better than most
for tar sands (which is the biggest growth area). Because of this,
they will eventually get acquired. I'd think the sooner the better,
before peak oil really becomes evident and the value of heavy crude

I saw this as well. Was it true that there was talk of a takeover of
FTO by VLO last year? The price of FTO spiked to almost $33 early
June of 2008. Could we see something like this again?

Hey, I've been watching this company for a little bit now(8 months),
and one thing is for sure they're consistent. I've made good money
from this stock. I'm just watching for the dips and the peaks. I think
this company will stay in the $10-$13 range for a little bit.(unless
there is unforeseen market fluctuations). What do you think?

Crack spreads actually usually increase more when oil prices fall due
to "sticky" pricing. In general lower oil prices are better for
refiners since it gives them more room to hike gasoline prices.

Oil has to come up to 65.00 to 80.00 per barrel. That shows demand for
crude products and increases
the crack spread on Gasoline. because the gas price rises higher.
Most money is made on Diesel the spread is higher,
At least that is what I understood from the CEO.
Correct me if i am wrong.

I had a position in at about $9, and I jumped out yesterday afternoon
when it went back to $13. I'm hoping my guess work is right in that
it'll drop to the $10-$11 range in the next couple of days, I'll be
sitting on the sidelines till then.

Yeah it is hard to set limits on. I may buy more today. It shows good
resistance on these bad days. and pops nicely on good days.
I will go long when overall things shape up, but dont want to attempt
timing that.

I think we will hopefully see a dip (hopefully on my part anyway)
today. I was in at 9.30 and out at 10.40, then in again at 10.06.
Unfortunately, my conditions hit 12.25 after a peak of 13.xx, and my
shares were sold. I can't watch it constantly. Thus the problem we
have seen with this stock over the past few weeks. Big fluctuations

I am in at 12.60 my buddy got in at 12.00. The co. had a good quarter.
I listened to the confrence call and I think next quarter will be ok.
They are making most money on the diesel. They dont have to make
ashphalt unless requested. All there projects are completed including

True gas prices have come down. But remember that FTO has the
capability to refine darker heaver oils rather than gasoline. These
types of fuels have stickier pricing than gasoline which means more $
for FTO. I have also deepened my position. The increasing dividend
payout over the last few years is also an incentive for me.

I agree, I signed up for their service and monitored all of their
recommendations from the past two weeks. Nothing special, not worth

VLO had higher earnings, and it ticked higher if I recall correctly.
I think we will see the same thing with FTO, except we still had some
higher crude in early 3Q, and gas prices have come down most recently,
which might reflect poorly against earnings. I'm hoping that the
earnings are up as well, and believe they will be, but I am cautiously

Oil has fallen in the last few months, and everyone is making up

I'm going long on this one. I bought in at $17 back in August then
sold at $23, bought at $18 in September then sold at $23. Now I'm in
at $9 and I'm going to wait for the earnings release at the beginning
of Nov. so I'm hopping it stays above ten, then shoots up. Just what
I'm thinking.

I am also long on a about 1000 more that I bought 2.5 years ago. You
still think there is upside, or if I got out now, you think there will

agree with brock.. You can also see some guidelines from other
companies like TSO. It just raised its guidances for the quarter.
Earnings for these refiners companies will be incredible. I sold all
my refiners stocks 2 weeks and I am planning to buy them back in about
a week. If you still hold on to them, don't sell.

yes. but the market is manipulated right now, so don't buy assuming

naked shorts! no, not really. On a percentage basis, this one isn't
down quite as much. If you are holding shares, just keep holding. They
are positioned well geographically and will return to profitability in
2009 if not in November.I wouldn't be surprised to see them picked up
by a larger oil company in 2009. Stay away from options unless you buy

I'd look to pick up some JAN 09 CALLS in the mid to upper 20's. When
the refiners start to show profits returning in November, this will
pop. It's just my opinion, but it's too hard to say where it will go
between now and start accumulating actual shares. A hedge with actual
crude, especially if it continues to plunge, is a no brainer.

I'm in the same hopeful camp that you are. This stock along with all
the refiners are not trading on the fundamentals at this point, it's
all about the financial crisis. If AIG gets stop-gap financing we will
