I had bought BSC shares @ $90.00 back in Jan and then sold it at a
loss @ 82.00. I am so glad I did. It was a loss but given today how it
is trading I am so glad I did.

VERY UNLIKELY..... BSC will not recover back to the 40's possible mid
30s but not 40s and definately not high 40s. from 30 you may money
10-20% max but by close this thing could drop much lower back to 30...

Are you morons illiterate? He never said margin call - he said alerts.
My bank does the same thing (though I'm not dumb enough to get one).
If your account falls below the margin requirement level, you get
alert notices.

The real irony here is that the same market that brought his forturne
(ala housing) is the same market bringing him down. You profit off
predatory lending, you take the fall from predatory lending.

know what buying on margin means and put all of your money into one
stock on a TIP, man...

If he didnt even bother to take 3000*65 to figure out how much he was
buying, or if he didnt notice that etrade or ameritrade or whatever
was quoting him the total price before he confirmed the order he was
putting his life into, then how is he going to make his money back
buying more stock or OPTIONS? Options arent a good solution for this
guy lol.

Guys, isnt your maximum margin on NYSE securities only 30% though?  If
so, he will just lose a lot more of his initial investment, but he
shouldnt have to sell his house lol.  Say he got 1000 shares on margin
(50% of 2000, not 3000, is the most he could have gotten) 1000*65 =
65000 he owes his broker + interest over 4 days which probably isnt
all that much.  his initial investment is sitll worth 35*2000 though =
70000.  So at the worst, he would have $5k left after he sold
everything.  So right now, he pretty much lost his entire investment
assuming a 50% margin call, but they are not taking his house or
anything else.

If the margin is 30%... that means he would have bought 2300 shares
with his own money and borrowed for 700 on margin.  That would be a
much less severe penalty.  He would have bought only $45500 on margin
if that is the case.  His initial investment would still be worth
2300*35 = $80500.  After paying off the margin owed (he would actually
only have to pay off enough to make the margin 30% of his account so
he would only have to pay off $45500 - ($80500 * .3 = 24150 = the
amount of margin he can have) which equals 21350.  Then he could still
use the rest, the 80K + the 24K margin for buying BSC.

This story doesn't make sense. Why does someone who doesn't know
anything about trading have 80,000 in a brokerage account, and one
thats approved for margin at that. Theres no way he could have funded
and got approved for margin in one day, if he did in fact get the tip
"yesterday". You said you were married? Time to put your wife to work.

He never said he got funded and approved in one day. He said he has
the money in there from a flip he sold. Where else would you put a
large chunk of cash? Maybe he wanted to get more interest on it before
deciding what to do. As for setting up a margin account it's as simple
as hitting the ok button when you sign up for an on-line account. If
this is for real i feel sorry for him. I really hope it's just a joke
to get more people talking.

were allowed to buy 3000 shares at 59;
thats 24 $ down now at around 35... x 3000 = 72'000, seems like most
of your money is gone at the moment.

You are right he didnt say margin call. still its weird how he got an
alert at market open as BSC opened. I would like to know he's broker.
He must have one of the best brokers in the world. BSC dropped before
it even opened to many sell orders came in. the company lost like $4
billion, the same time he gets an alert. My broker would not alert me
till the next day, at least not till the security has closed that day.
You may be losing money but the closing price has not yet been
set....see where am coming from. What if the stock recover(not saying
it will, i dont thnk it will), the broker would really suck. They go
by closing price not intraday prices.......

The margin alert can't be from today, but it could be from yesterday.

Worst case scenario: he bought at 67 on March 10th and maxed out his
account. Every day AFTER that, BSC pps closed lower than what he
bought it at, and he had a negative margin on his account. So that
doesn't even take into account what happened today.

If this is true you're in deep deep caca.
