No there cant be a time frame on how long you need to hold a stock
before it splits. Think logically if I were to buy BRK.B today and it
splits tomorrow and if I don't get the split then I lose (3411 - 65 =
3346); which would be a deterrent to the investor as well as illegal
for the company as my loss will be someone's gain.

Smart men ! thanks ... I bought10 B shares two days ago but sold it
today. Maybe in the future I'll buy only 1, class A and let it ride
forever.
As it gets closer to the split I'll consider buying again or under $3K
if it hits. $3400 or above seems crazy.

I have ONE share of BRK.B I bought long time ago. I would love to see
the split.

Keep in mind the folloing... I doubt the price would fluctuate too
much, bottom line is the price of class B is still relative to class
A. The new ratio A:B will be 1:1500 if it happens. The split is
still require approval from stock holders and might not happen.

Not so much in principle, I am banking on "short memory investors" and
automatic reports that will compared the $3-4K range to the under
$100.00 value and jump in, I already started buying a few shares and
just let it ride for years to come. For sure is not going BK any time
soon. Like some other companies. Up and downs yes. BK never.

Don't know when, according to their website the date hasn't been set
yet. I think I may buy now. By the time the split occurs the price
will be close to $100 after the split, it already climbed over a
100pts in 2 days. Do you think this stock will explode like AIG after
the split?

Buffet buying B&O Railroad and now Fannie Mae? Hope this isn't the beginning of Oldtimers.

S&P 500 or DOW30?

Word has it that sometime in the future BRK/B will enter the S&P 500.
However, this will not be for some time....5-10 years by estimates.
But what about the DOW30? Wouldn't BRK/B be a perfect candidate for
the DOW? Its cheaper than some DOW stocks, represents a wide variety
of economic sectors, and is a growth Company. Seems like a no-brainer.

Tomorrow is the 80th Anniversary of Black Tuesday 1929. It took over
20 years for stock prices to get back to their highs after the crash.

So the money he makes by selling securities is a portion of his take
home pay on top of the $100k salary he gets. On this one portion of
his income for a year he pays a lower tax rate but what about the
portion of his income that is the $100k he gets in salary? He gives
away his salary every year?? Why does he have a salary then? What

he pys less taxes because of investments if he holds an investment
longer than a year he only has to pay 15% instead of 35% he also gives
away his "salary" to charity so he isn't required to pay tax on that
