Folks,

Not sure if you all had a chance to play in today for vmware, but I
did.. Here are my observations on vMware.

1. Had vmware been IPO before July 27 ( i am glad it didn't happen),
vmware would have done much better job.

This year saw a very good welcome for IPOs compared to last year. I
would say specially before July 26th.

Look at INFN, DDUP, LULU,BAGL and many more and check their progress
they did in first week. Forget abt what  happened later .. :) . Here,
I am only referring the BULLISH attitude the market had towards growth
oriented companies.. Even though INFN had widened quarterly losses,
it's still trading at 1.5 times the IPO prices..

Now compare the context of VMWare IPO with the above mentioned stocks
had.. Inspite of far better growth and financial standings and worser
market conditions VMware did close at 1.75 times or or 75% above IPO
price..

This boils down to only one thing in short term perspective.. Please
note that i am not talking abt hype here.. VMware has some good
credentials. Please go check SEC filings for revenues and profit  and
compare that with GOOG. You will understand the reasoning behind that
comparison prevailing in industry..

How will vmware play in for market conditions in next few weeks ??
Today's close was so much factored in by market play..It's very
important to understand this ..

Your Qns are  (Please keep the context to 2-3 weeks):

1. Will it come down to 140 to 145 or lower  -- >   assuming Dow Jones
or other index go down by another 5%
to say 12500 ??

Folks who want to compare vmware to Blackstone, please stay away from
this discussion..

2. How will vmware fair if market stays abt same . i.e. Dow around
13000+/- few points.. Will it go up ??

Share your opinions.. Note that you need to throw your perspective on
only one of the above questions, not both. I am assuming that market
won't improve in next 2-3 weeks.. If i was sure that it will, i
wouldn't be asking how vmware will do .. :) ..

I totally agree with you. This stock have done lot better. Many people
just dont understand and not factoring the market condition that
worries investor. I personaly believe this stock will do lot better in
coming weeks. Take a look at LULU , UA. I think VMW is the winner!!!!
