I don't think that SBUX will get to $8 but I still think it has some
downside. Even if it good "value" at current levels, I don't want to
miss out on the opportunity of owning it at $12 or less....  Could
happen.  .  I'm waiting for the FAT pitch here...

Its a noble idea but with Blue Chips its a rarity. Usually it takes
some controversy or industry crisis. You can pick up some real
diamonds in the housing industry right now.

Some well known examples are Buffet picking up Wells Fargo during the
California real estate crisis or American Express during a scandal. Of
the 14 or so high profile blue chips he owns, thats about it.

But its not a bad idea to pick up SBUX a couple of dollars below.

P.S. The tip lawsuits are not quite going to cut it.

That's impossible. Though it's still overvalued at its current price,
its P/E is above 18.

"Even if it good "value" at current levels"

I doubt it has good value. It doesn't seem to be at a compelling
valuation. Even using a DCF analysis, I am not sure the value is
there. I think value my start to show up around the $15 level. P/E
isn't the only way to value a company, but for now I'm using it as a
reliable way to gage value. For any buy to make sense, the company
would have to be trading at well bellow a 17.5x multiple.

Hey Big,

I bought some SBUX when Schultz finally admitted to taking over the
reigns again. But, the contra to this is the complete annihilation of
goodwill for the firm. It was already grossly mismanaged, but now,
with the Sonics owner planning to move the team to OK City, Starbucks
is being blamed for that too.

Personally, I think your $15 price target is pretty close to the
actual bottom on this stock. Starbucks in Asia is HUGE. I still don't
see how people can afford to pay $3+ a cup when their income amounts
to about $20k a year for executives. But... they do. Then again, it
could just be expats buying up the coffee.

Don't try to catch this falling star. This thing is going to 10
dollars unless some foreign entity takes a stake in it. I think I can
wait until that news. Otherwise I'll pick up shares at tem dollars at
the end of the year

Do you mind telling me why you think SBUX will fall to $10?

Help us all out by giving us some facts, reasoning and analysis so we
can determine how much credibility you have.

None of us have all the facts so your perspective could be really
valuable.

It hasn't been able to hold support since falling from 35 dollars.
Even in an upmarket it was still falling. Long term support over ten
years is a little over 10 dollars ( it held here for over a year) so
that's where I think it has very strong support. Its not that far off
anyways.

Dane,

"I bought some SBUX when Schultz finally admitted to taking over the
reigns again. " You may know something I don't, but I think you could
do better that Starbucks. Personally, I would wait until the growth
investors (who are actually momentum investors) wake up, move out, and
the price tanks. I think you should be able to buy this for maybe 30%
lower than what its worth one day. I'm not sure about what DCF says
about this company, but when I did an analysis (just crunched some
basic numbers) the investment opportunity didn't seem that rewarding.
For me to buy this company it may have to get down near $10. Thats
just a guess, though... but I know the growth has definitely slowed
right down.
