Retailers continue to be bought by private-equity firms at record
levels.

Will Macy's join the list?

So it finally looks like this is going to actually happen.  Lots of
stories in the news today about the $52 per share offer by KKR + GS
which represents roughly a 30% premium at yesterdays close.  Pre-
market ECN is up 10% at this writing.

Can anyone tell me what would happen in such a scenario?  Would your
broker cash you out automatically at $52 per share or would you
typically need to take action for that to happen?

Has anyone been through one of these before that might be able to
provide insight into the process of private equity buyout?

you most likely will get around that much if that is the purchase
price. we will see what happens. i hope that there is another bidder
for this stock. i think it is at least worth $52 in this market.
