Subject: Sunset date for BPT
This trust has a very amusing dividend but its hard not to be somewhat
skeptical. Is the 90k production drop a function of depletion of the
reserves? Does anyone knopw the expected sunset date of this trust?

>From what I have read BPT has 13 billion barrells of proven reserve

and is extracting about 700,000 barrells a day.  That should give us
about 40+ yrs.  I'm no expert or invested in this stock I have just
been researching it for a while.

>From the 2006 BPT annual report, as of end of 2006, BPT has 81.1

million barrels of proven reserves attributed to it per the rules of
the Trust.  At $31.46 average per barrel royalty, that's $2.55 billion
in dividends (mostly, there's a small service charge every year by
Bank of New York for running the trust).  There are aproximately 21.4
million shares outstanding which means about $119 per share in
dividends remain.

Crawm, so by your calculation BPT will dry up in 14 Quarters.  Or 3
1/2 yrs.  An artical was just published after I made my post that
states 50 years of production from this field.  Of course production
will decrease more each year.  I find your calculations hard to
believe, however, you do seem to know your math.  And may know much
more about this than me.

If you want close-to-professional answers about this stock, read the
comments on the Yahoo message boards by a user named "mathanalyst."
He's the source of my updates on the stock.  He has correctly
predicted the last 3-4 dividends, within a penny.
