Subject: E*TRADE WILL SURVIVE AND STAY ALIVE
Let's not forget that E-Trade was one of the first and still is a
great online brokerage company. I see two positive outcomes from their
current situation: they resurrect from this major blip of debt on
their balance sheet or they get bought out by TD Ameritrade's massive
hoarde of Cash. Either way, the stock will go up.

I would check out strunkreport.com for updated financial news - it's a
pretty good all-inclusive financial site.

Important News from E*TRADE

This morning we announced that E*TRADE FINANCIAL has strengthened its
capital position and eliminated exposure to the types of mortgage
securities that have been generating business losses, as well as
headlines, over the last several months. This has been accomplished
through a strategic transaction with affiliates of Citadel Investment
Group.

As part of this transaction, E*TRADE has received a $2.5 billion
capital infusion. This transaction, led by affiliates of Citadel, not
only strengthens our capital position but also represents a
significant vote of confidence from one of the world's leading
investment firms. Further, Citadel has removed the entire $3 billion
asset-backed securities portfolio from the Company's balance sheet,
solving our most significant balance sheet issue. Citadel understands
we have been faced with a challenged balance sheet, not a challenged
business.

While we have remained well capitalized by regulatory standards
throughout the current credit storm, we have heard the concerns raised
by our customers. Today, we have taken action to address these
concerns. Our goal throughout this process has been to reinforce
customer confidence and to set the foundation for our future. From
this point forward our customers can be assured that E*TRADE FINANCIAL
has no exposure to securities such as CDOs, Alt-A or second lien asset-
backed securities.

As we turn the page to a new chapter, the reasons that you have chosen
E*TRADE as your financial service provider--industry leading value,
innovative products and strong service-remain as true as ever, and we
will continue to work hard to exceed your expectations today, tomorrow
and well into the future.

We appreciate your business and continued loyalty. Thanks for sticking
with us.

Jarrett Lilien
Acting Chief Executive Officer, E*TRADE FINANCIAL

There is a 1-2% chance that they will file bankruptcy and while people
are selling institutions are buying because they know a buyout in
inevitable at this point and time!

I totally agree.  Ameritrade was already sketchy about the
buyout....now it's going to be even more expensive.  If someone does
buy, I would be suprised to see the price more than $6.  $10-11 is not
going to happen.

How does this investment make a buyout any less realistic?  Citadel
will want the highest return on their investment and will urge the
board to sell to whoever pays the most.  What am I missing here?

in my humble opinion, one of two outcomes here:  1.) ETrade is making
a play to stay in business with no buy out at all.   2.)  Citadel
infuses money so THEY can make some cash on the backend of a
buyout.    If it's option one, your shares of E*Trade become a good
long term investment as it will eventually climb back to $20 over the
next 1 to 2 years.   If it's #2 the short term may be even rosier for
you since it's more of an attractive target now.  Either way ... I
think those of us who are holding ETFC stock are in good shape.   And
I DO NOT think for one minute bankruptcy is an option.  I think that's
ridiculous with ETFC's balance sheet.

I didn't mean to say the buyout would be impossible....just less
likely, and definitely less likely to fetch $10+.

I'm not an expert, but I read last night that TD put an offer for
$10.63 just for there brokerage?  Now that the Banking is out of the
way, why would they not offer the $10.63?

Bankruptcy has become the hot word for all the retards on these
message boards ever since they looked it up in the dictionary.  You
are right, there is just no realistic chance of Etrade going
bankrupt.  They have a strong balance sheet, a great customer base and
a great brand name.

Let me see if I have this right, if ETFC sells itself it will be sold
as a broker and the loan portfolio will be owned by Citadel.

In that case what price would they sell at?

I would think that sincew now ETFC has the monkey off it's back they
woulds hold out for a premium price last I heard
was est of $10-11 just for broker.

If they hold out and dont get sold then their earnigns will determine
the stock price I would hope it will get to $8 next year

Congratulations for the CEO, he pulled it out!. That 2.5 B was really
a surprise, and wonder how does they convince the angels investors?
did they show the tricks on their system?... Whatever they did, was an
great JOB!

Best Regards,

TS
