after this cash infusion everyone will jump on the E*trade wagon and
buy like crazy tommorow. i am predicting around a dollar increase. In
the long run this company is going to last. yes.. the debt is high but
as they have stated before they are well capitalized and can remain
well capitalized even with an immediate 1 billion write down.

TD or Schwab definitely gonna buy ETFC at a minimum of $10/share in a
next couple of weeks. I strongly believe its a great chance to double
your worth. Even if its not bought, it definitely deserves at least $7/
share. In any case, its not going to loose further. Clearly a WIN-WIN
situation.

If it rallies tomorrow, I'm buying puts. A Fed rate cut may help Citi,
but it ain't gonna help ETrade. $1.75 billion debt @ 12.5% interest.
You do the math.

There is money to cover the debt between the money that etrade
currently has and the invested money today.
ETrade has fewer assets than other companies (such as manufacturing
companies), which also foresees not wasting major money trying to
recover.
Previous companies currently in existance were under chapter 11
(initial step to bankrupcy). This company did not declare bankrupcy
and there is a big chance that there will be a total recover.
Sometimes the balance sheet, interest rates, and financial statements
do not play a crucial role on the future status of a company.
Moreover, the news could drive the stock of a company up or down with
a few sentences. What really needs to be done on YOUR part is to
decide whether E*Trade's stock value is worth it or not, and now state
to yourself whether it is worth to invest $5.00/stock in this company
or not. At the end you are the only one who is going to purchase the
stocks.

What happens to the stocks at the time of a merge or buyout? Simple!
Shares do not dissapear. The stock is either:
1. Money is given to the shareholders as per the ending value of the
stock.
2. The new company removes the old shares, re-evalues the E Trade
shares, and every shareholder will have EQUIVALENT shares from the new
company.

In case someone asks me for the statetement I would say PURCHASE is a
must for this company.

> am sorry, but 3M after trading is not that much.... it's barely 2%

Well, it made most active list and a 4.98% gain

http://dynamic.nasdaq.com/dynamic/afterhourma.stm

this stock normally does 55M
Today 245.51M
"am I missing something here??? "

Does this board normally have this much activity...??

Obviously, something is driving the interest ... good or bad only time
will tell.

I think E-Trade has great branding and will persevere. Worst case
scenario they get bought out at 8 bucks a share.

Even if a buyout doesnt happen in the near short term and in a couple
of quarters, ETrade starts gaining financial health, I feel Schwab and
TD would fight for Etrade like Garmin and Tom Tom fought for Tele
Atlas...

A very crazy expectation though... but who ever is buying ETFC will
have a severe competitive edge over the others.
