well there IS a company wide meeting for all employee's sunday
morning, but what its about there are 2 options. One being the most
obvious, holiday kick off, start prepping for black friday. The other
one, not so sure, I've seen several posts stating that their store
director told them this was NOT about the holiday kick off. So we'll
see. If its not about holiday kick off, my guess is that its not going
to be anything good.

Oh really?  Several posts where?  Cite your sources with URLs or
otherwise you have no credibility....  It's like the supposed Sony
issue, which is apparently just due to a sinkhole right next to a CC
location.  There is truly no truth in media on the internet when it
comes to CC these days!  It seems clear that a lot of people who are
negative toward CC for past mistakes the company made are willing to
say and do ANYTHING to see the company go under, and that just
demonstrates a real lack of integrity among those folks; those who are
former CC employees probably SHOULD have been fired if that's the sort
of people they are....

I can understand the resistance to reason, especially by those that
own the stock... but until CC refutes the claim that Sony stopped
shipping, as far as I'm concerned, they are filing bankruptcy Monday
morning. I'm not maliciously dragging the company down, but there's no
way I just close my ears and sing "lalalalallaal" with all these red
flags going up... The markets don't open until Monday, so rumor is all
quashed as long as CC makes a statement... *tapping foot*

circuit citys internal forum. I'd like to post links, but what good
does that do you, you wont be able to access it. And no where did I
say it was IN FACT, an "announcement", I said its either holiday kick
off (most likely) or there is going to be some "announcement". Fact
is, there IS a company wide morning meeting for sunday. But since you
want some sources, here they are, these are employee's posts...

"In the e-mail from our SD, it says this is NOT a holiday kick off
meeting. It is the result of a SD only conference call that happened
earlier today. Sound familiar anyone?

...

Yes he was very clear in his communication that this was not a holiday
kickoff meeting, and that everyone must be here at 9am. Also I just
found out from a supervisor that they are to be here at 8am for
briefing before the all store meeting. At this point they have not
been told what it is about, only the SD knows."

"yep im a firedog tech and just got a call about an hour ago that we
have a meeting tomorrow morning (first time hearing about it) that is
mandatory. everyone is hush about what its about so doesnt look good

btw we have never had to attend "holiday kickoff" meetings or any
other all store meeting "

"This isn't just a holiday kickoff. There's basically two meetings
tomorrow at our store. There's the all store one (at 9 AM) and then at
7:30 AM, the OPM and myself have to be there to meet with my SD. This
was the result of a call from our DM, and our SD has told us he can't
tell us what the meeting is about."

Usually companies won't wait until Monday morning to file Ch11. Not
sure if BK is on cards or an option for CC at this point considering
size of the debt, which is not due now.
Credit markets are improvong gradually and CC has 80% of the 1.3B
revolving credit facility which is good for holiday season. Also, they
planned to liquidate $350M inventory during Nov and Dec, which leaves
breathing time to implement turnaround strategy effectively.
A lot of BK rumors are from the hedge funds bashers who want to get in
at cheaper price.
Watch CC going up after the announcement on NO BK next week. Longterm,
CC will be back to $15-20.
This is strictly my opinion

Well, I think and I hope that you are right.  I would think it more
likely that tomorrow's meeting will be to announced the closure and
liquidation of unprofitable stores and locations as opposed to a
declaration to employees of an imminent BK filing.  Also, I would
think that such a filing, were it to occur, would take place BEFORE
employees were notified.  But this too is just my opinion....  And
yes, there are a lot of false rumors being spread about CC right now,
to include the whole Sony thing; Sony has not stopped shipping to CC,
but had to turn trucks around due to a huge sinkhole opening up right
next to a major CC distribution center.

I think it is going to be a Rah Rah Meeting,  When employees feel
down, sales go down.  They do have the capital to survive even in this
market for 8 more months.  Several positives here,  Fuel Prices lowest
in 3 years, When you have 1,500 hundred stores to light/heat/cool this
will add up, in addition the trickle down effect for the customer
having more money, trickle down effect for incoming goods on lower
fuel.  CC is going for broke Upper MGT knows that good jobs elsewhere
for them are non existant.  THEy are going to go Cost plus 5% on ALL
electronics for cash flow and hope for CD and other crap sales.

THIS COMPANY DIED, WHEN THEY DID AWAY WITH SALES COMMISH STRUCTURES,
FUKIN MGT TRIED TO GREASE MORE MONEY INTO NET PROFITS ENDED FUKIN
THEMSELVES AND THERE SHARE HOLDERS.  CC IS JUST A NICER VERSION OF A
RADIO SHACK,  NOTHING COMPARES TO A BEST BUY STORE.

Circuit City is the worst company I've ever seen. Their entire store
is ugly and dirty. Their employees dont give a shit and their
management cannot manage. I've never seen so many worthless
supervisors in my life. I hope they all lose their jobs. The managers
deserve it and I hope it's a huge blemish on their resume. If the
stores close it will be the kick in the ass the regular employees need
to find a good job instead of hating their job but being too lazy to
find another.

Screw Circuit City.

Grip,  FYI bro  Noone is going to buy This company, a vast majority of
the stores are in dated strip malls.  Best Buy is 1-2 miles away from
80% of ALL CC U.S locations.  Walmart is not on drugs to buy this
dawg.  Only SEARS could buy this dawg, and they are fukin looped
enough to buy it,  They have good mgt.   If the company does get
bought out and {merged] equals shares of parent are swapped, but in
this case count on a reverse split for this toilet paper.  I bought
4000 shares at 20 cents,  EVERYTHING IN THE MARKET will make a huge
Bump when Obanananana gets elected.

While I'm not really experienced in the stock market, it's my

This stinks, but I thought this would probably happen. I'm sorry to
hear this for those folks that are out of a job.

Kind of curious... what are they telling customers? The stores that
are staying open and the ones that will eventually close. Like for
example, if I buy something and a store closes what do I do if a have
to return it and it's one of the 12 markets that closes? Anyone know
the markets? I would guess the one I'm in is one...

Also, I hear reports that the stores will be closed by 12/31/08 yet
others are saying stores will be closed within 48 hours... which is
correct?
