With all due respect, you really should not be involved in individual
stocks. Get in ultra safe mutual funds, and don't look back until you
retire. I'm not exactly the Wizard of Oz, but jeez man, please think
your position through before you put something down on paper.

This is precisely the time to buy. Anyone who puts in their money now
has a probability of earning back when they put in several times over.
Not guaranteed, of course, but there is a serious possibility that
this company at some point in the next 12-24 months may break ten
again, less likely it will hit twenty. That scenario is not a given,
and I would not bet on it, but this is when I should've gone in.
Whatever problems this company has, $4 is an extraordinary bargain if
you have a long-term outlook.

Best of luck to all of you.

A single dose of the experimental injectable drug antibody, known
as XOMA 052 has been shown to improve blood sugar control in
patients with type 2 diabetes. This would be a disease-modifying
drug that allows the pancreas to get back to a more normal state.
A subcutaneous injection that could potentially be given as
infrequently as once a month.

It is designed to block an inflammation-causing protein known as
interleukin-1 beta, which has recently been linked to inflammatory
damage to insulin-producing cells known as islet cells. A single
injection of the antibody reduced levels of HbA1c -- a standard
measure of glucose control -- in four of five tested dose levels
compared to placebo. Median HbA1c levels were reduced in all 5
groups and the reduction was as much as 0.6 percent after 28 days
compared to baseline. With one dose we have a 0.6 percent
improvement. If you extrapolate to three months, the improvement
is probably going to be even better.

The results of the trials, which were presented in Rome at a
meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes,
showed no evidence of serious adverse side effects or infusion
reactions. Dr. Marc Donath, Professor of Endocrinology and
Diabetes at the University Hospital of Zurich, a pioneer in anti-
inflammatory approaches to diabetes treatment, will serve as lead
investigator of Xoma's European trial.

Its a risky move but could pay off bigtime. On another note, for all
you risk takers here, DSCO is in play ... dirt cheap ... If you have
the balls to go long on MTXX (like I do) then you should look into it.
Down to .80 from the April 2009 high of 2.30 with lots of wiggle room.
Earnings report on Wednesday. Pending FDA approval for Surfaxin. Check
out the website for details.

Discovery Laboratories, Inc. will be hosting a conference call on
Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 4:00 PM EST. Management will provide an
update on business activities as well as financial results for the
third quarter of 2009.

Why would you dump now?  Earnings release on the 27th.  If you hung in
this long what were you looking for?  It's pretty much flatlined since
the announcement, and thats with a HUGE earnings loss last report.  If
I were you I would at least wait to see what they come up with on the
27th.

MTXX will linger in the 5.50-6.50 range for at least another year.
Possibly (POSSIBLY) a good long-term investment (LOOONNNNGGGG) but I
wouldn't tie my money up in this stock at this time when there are so
many other movers.  Only reason to be in MTXX now is if you were long
before the crash and are too stubborn to not realize your losses.

No, I did not see the movie the French Connection. Also, I did not see
when TV reporter throughout a Zipcam spray a William Hemlet did not
look worried at all. What I did see was the FDA issue a warning
stating that the Zicam may be a cause of smell loss and the stock
tanked. Whether or not they require FDA approval is really not an
issue - the FDA can influence without commanding, and influence they
did.

That being said, I do concede your point - if they do not change their
formula by next year, they will be done with this business. Strange,
then, that after major lawsuits in the past they still have not
introduced any new products that are not Zicam related, nor have they
modified their major Zicam products unless you count the different
ways that you can take Zicam.

I simply do not understand why someone would think to buy this stock,
unless they have spent less than five minutes checking out the company
either through reading the Option Blogs that say that MTXX is going to
magically come up with a new formula for H1N1 or for this flu season
even though they couldn't come up with new formulas during the best of
times. Then you might want to seriously consider buying...
