What's the Deal with BPZ?

I did plenty of research and checked financials and other analyst
ratings. Everything I saw said buy.

Does anybody with knowledge of this company know why the stock has
been plummeting recently?

I feel they are something I should hold onto unless there's something
I don't know about.

If all those analysts are extremely bullish, then this stock is
perhaps a good short candidate. Contrarianism is where the money is in
this market.

Remember, in the 2003-2004 market bottom, this thing was in the $1s
and $2s. This recession / market bottom is likely to be a lot more
protracted and severe!

That is what i have read as well. The way the price dropped b4 open i
didnt know what was going on. Didnt know if they had a horrible Q4 and
we were going to eat this one. I like BPZ long term. They have a lot
of potential with their fields and with a jump in crude I think we

Relax. The stock price will bounce back. Several analysts have this
as a buy to strong buy (with the exception of a few). One analyst
recently reiterated that this is a strong buy with a 1 year target
price of 12 dollars. The stock hit a bump with recent bad news
regarding Shell, but it will rebound. If you were in this for a quick

Not quite sure... still trying to make sense of the press release from
this morning. I think they are fine.

The thing I think they reported lower than expected oil reserve
numbers and selling values -- equating to them having less oil to sell
at a lower price.

Can anybody shine some light on this?

Good news is just pouring out - if only the stock reflected it.

First, BPZ announced a 7 year contract w/ a Peru oil refiner valued at
$1.3 BILLION dollars.

In the green with oil far in the red and energy stocks down almost 4
percent! looks like that new contract should give it a much need
boost.

This company is sitting on a world class field. If oil is back up to
$90/bbl in a year or so, BPZ's standardized measure could easily
eclipse $10 billion (or over $120/share). Glad Greg Smith is making
the presentation to Society of Analysts tomorrow (11/6).

Ya I think the prospects are great for bzp. going to be a good buy on
the long haul. The stock is very reactive to the price of oil. I heard
today opec is going to try and keep the 100 dollar barrel. So you can
bet on one thing and that is: they are going to maintain a bottom and
the bottom will always go up.

Those types of oil wells require somewhat unique techniques. 70
degrees or lower degrees results in more volume coverage, thereby
tapping the difficult geography. Its far cheaper than horizontal
drilling, which they are trying to implement in North Dakota's oil
sands (I believe they are the Alberta oil fields). If you read up on

Can anyone elaborate on the recent news about the completion of the
recent wel? What does 75 feet of oil sands and 60 feet gas refer to?
The President of the company mentioned these and I am interested in
the significance these measures contained in his statement.
