They prepare receiving from ministers in km 88
Thursday, 18 of January of 2007
The governmental civil employees headed by minister Jose Khan will make
a movable cabinet in this locality of the south of the state Bolivar
Once the mayoress Marlene Vargas announced that a group of ministers,
headed by Jose Khan - Mibam- will make a movable cabinet in the parish
San Isidro, Sifontes municipality, the parochial leadership,
represented by Loaiza Aquino, initiated preparations for so important
event. According to the information that is had, the ministers who will
become presents, will take to a set plans to put them in march to
object to give answer to the problems that have come accumulating. The
mayoress Marlene Vargas has come maintaining who stops to receive about
eight thousand foreign miners who are being relocated for this
municipality, considers to drive quickly a set of programs, taking care
of the miners of this municipality initially so that when arriving the
other miners, do not make colapsar the services.

One inquired that between the programs developing, is the one of the
mining reconversion; to this end, the reconversion can operate in
several directions. If a miner is of some state outside Bolivar, he can
become his own town, by means of the beginning of some productive
activity different from the mining, for which he will have support.

Loaiza Aquino has to their position, the coordination of a package of
proposals and expositions that the miners will make the ministers. Also
they are taking into account the announcement of which president Hugo
Chavez will interconnect to the miners of Kilometer 88 with one of the
transmissions of his Aló program President.

The parochial leader has informed who in the zone are sufficient areas
with good tenors to locate to the small mining, raising in such sense
that is solved the main problems that cause to the lack of services
public.

Loaiza also raised the necessity that they both take projects of great
mining, as they are the Cristinas, operated by the company Crystallex
and Brisas of the Cuyuni in charge of the Corporation Gold Reserve,
because once these projects start, will be fixed use for more than five
thousand people, which will end the unemployment that at the moment is
almost total. Isica.

I wish we had the original spanish. Hard to find on that link.

Anyway, at the end there it looks like someone is suggestion that Vz
start mining the Las Cristinas project to employ the people of that
region.

If I'm reading this correctly, this is good news for Crystallex.

Isica.

( DJ ) 01/18 01:53PM DJ Venezuela Also Eyeing Nationalization Of Mining
- Minister
RIO DE JANEIRO (Dow Jones)--Venezuela, in addition to planning the
nationalization of other key sectors of the economy, eyes the
nationalization
of the mining industry, the country's foreign minister said Thursday.
"The basic industries of minerals should be in the hands of the
national
state," Foreign Minister Nicholas Maduro said. He spoke at the
sidelines of a
summit of leaders of the Common Market of the South, or Mercosur trade
block,
taking place here Thursday and Friday.
Maduro, however, didn't elaborate on the issue of nationalizing the
mining
industry.
A number of Canadian, U.S. and Brazilian mining companies are
operating in
Venezuela.

Thanks for the Spanish.

Yeah, this is good news. The mayors and officials referred to in the
article are talking about how minors are being relocated to the gold
mines, how great the jobs will be for the people.

The ideas go something like this.
Cons:
- VZ owns the actual mine.
- VZ is threatening to "nationalize" the mining companies.

Pros:
- Even if VZ owns the mine, they need Crystallex to mine the gold.
- Chavez strikes hard bargains, but he does understand business. KRY
will make money.
- It would be very diffecult, if not impossible, for Chavez and VZ to
take over KRY without paying a fair price.

from what i understand the small mines will be turned over to local
(independent) miners. and KRY will do the processing for them, that way
it its better for the environment

Well, I hope they aren't, that is my fear. Anyway, the more I have
thought about the "news", the more logical it appears: if Venezuela
were aiming to get mining operations moving forward. What else would
they do then, but set up a regional authority or office in order to
oversee and guarantee citizen, environmental and legal mining rights.

up before you even open your mouth. I am not a Chavez boot licker, and
it doesn't matter who says so. I am an independent thinker. If you
don't like what I have to say, pass over it dude.)))))

No, not that they are going to mine it themselves. My interpretation of
the news is that they are setting up a bureaucracy to administrate
mining in Bolivar. This makes sense when you think of the issues the
government needs to be involved in: employment practices, environmental
protection, and full taxation of removed minerals. How better to carry
this out than to locate the bureaucracy in the Bolivar state itself;
this is how I am interpreting "mobile cabinet". If I'm right, then the
news is actually very positive for KRY and other miners in Bolivar.
