Solid financials. Fine balance sheet (a little less liquid than last
year, but that'll come around). Great 3rd quarter. This is a great
company. It's going no where but up. And NOW they have a free 100
million from the buyout offer breaking up. And 10 points lower than
they deserve due to market hype, this is a definite buy! I'm putting
my money in. I don't even see it as a gamble...

Or put another way URI is a victim of bad counsel. This quote from
this AMs Bloom...

``I wouldn't bet against the U.S. as the world's reserve currency,''
says former Treasury Secretary John Snow, now chairman of Cerberus
Capital Management in New York. ``The dollar markets are so deep and
so liquid and the American economy is so fundamentally advanced.''

He would also put his money on Nero being placated or Mrs. O'Leary's
cow remaining taciturn. The dollar notwithstanding, Cerberus is a
defunct piece of manure with one hand on the helm and the other, well
you know where.

I'm prepared for and certain that the stock will spike today as that
the news of the repudated merger comes to settle in people's minds.
Everyone will realize it was due to no fault of URI, and that they're
clean of any financial mess. The stock will then soar back to it's
normal price.

....And URI should be pleased to not have been bought out by such a
defunct and unstable company...

Agreed.  The company has improved in virtually all aspects of its
business model and continues to be more efficient with its fleet.  The
price range that it traded in before the talks of a sale was in the
$26-$29 range.

So what you're left with is a company that has improved its bottom
line and now has $100M to pay down debt or increase its fleet or make
more acquisitions.

They've been researching the overseas market and may be in Europe next
year.  It would be a great move my opinion.

I can't believe this stock is trading under 23 I put a good percentage
of my portfolio in this stock it was trading higher than this before
the merger started I don't see any reason this stock should be trading
so low... Oh well my gain

Its down because the industry is deteriorating. Cerberus agreed to
purchase the company (stupidly) at all time high valuations. In the
proxy cerberus had some pretty aggressive assumptions.. Cumulative
rental rate gains of 5.5% by the end of next year (when 3q rates came
in down 2%!). The company's peers of RRR and HEES are down like 40%
each. Why would you expect it to return to its pre-deal price?

If it trades along with the rest of the group (which it should) the
stock is worth low 20's right now. I wouldnt buy it unless it was
around $18. Then its a deal.
