Subject: Is it time to sell Novartis?
Man, I never thought I'd say this. I love Novartis and have held it
for almost a year and believe that it is a very well run company. Also
a great way to hold a solid international stock. It has the great
Sandoz generics and a good long term pipeline. However, it has had a
combination of unfortunate events that even in this industry was
highly unlikely. The market is doing very well right now with lots of
opportunities for growth... while I have no doubt that Novartis will
recover from this and become a thriving company once again I do not
see the stock doing much of anything in the next 6-12 months. I
weathered the Zelnorm situation, Lamisil patent expiration and loss to
Teva for generic replacement, but now long-term Galvus delays also?

Even a few weeks ago I wasn't even considering selling. But I have to
admit that perhaps the capital is better spent elsewhere right now...

I was wondering what others think also?

This post is nine hours old and no one has responded to it because
what can anyone advise? Drug companies are tough to time because of
approvals, acquisitions, generics, etc. I guess you will have to
decide if you want this position as an investment or a trade. As an
investment it will likely do very well as a hold given enough time. As
a trade, the next six months are probably going to be flat so your
money would do best elsewhere. But remember, these companies can
change on a dime with M&As. Good luck.

The tech perspective is that the Quartell slant, being 45 deg.
downward over a week period, indicates the theta/lambda inverse for
the near future. Although the beta, being a low .29 shows non-
modifiability in the near term, the inversed ratio of the current
growth/decline would temper any flexibility in the P/E and possibly
undermine its value. In short, go long or sell.

A low but steady climb out of the cellar this week.

Anytime is a good time to sell Novartis. Their quality assurance sucks
and they need an entirely new legal department.

The first bad quarterly report in six years and a bad forecast for the
next quarter and the stock now rises. Go figure.
