The downward trend can stop the very minute that John Donahoe is
removed as CEO, simultaneously replaced by someone that has a clue
what Ebay is about.  Only then can the core business of Ebay begin to
heal.  The stock would be much, much lower if Paypal were not
currently factored in and the stock reflected only Ebay's core
business, which John Donahoe has single-handedly managed to destroy in
under 2 years.  The simple announcement of his removal would send the
stock soaring by 5-10% in one week.

Subject: Re: whats wrong
We refer to the downward trend in Ebay core business, not
(necessarily) the stock price (yet-miraculously).  The downward trends
are most noticable in sell-thru rates, site traffic, prices realized,
and customer service, to name just a few.
In the area of the stock price, any business person will tell you
that no growth is negative growth, and seeing as Ebay has failed to
return its stock price to pre-November '08 levels would suggest a
'downward trend' in that category as well, especially given the fact
that Ebay competitors have managed to rebound and have been thriving
in the same economic environment.  John Donahoe's strategies have not
worked and have done more damage (by a mile) to this company than any
other single factor, including the recession.  The sooner John Donahoe
is fired, the sooner a competent CEO can replace him, one with a
realistic vision of what Ebay should be, one that understands the Ebay
community and bases his or her ideas on what its customers want, NOT
one that chooses to make the Ebay community "come around" to his
ideas.  To date, that has never worked.  Businesses that have operated
on the premise of filling a need have thrived in the long term.  John
Donahoe's product no longer satisfies the needs of anyone except John
Donahoe.

Yeah, I would do that, except that Ebay will yank any thread on its
boards that say what I posted above about John Donahoe....the truth
hurts.  And financial discussion about Ebay would absolutely include
discussion about their policies and their CEO.

May I speculate that maybe you put your propaganda in the wrong

If McDonald's stopped putting meat on their hamburgers, I'd think
investors would want to know.  That's the equivalent of what's
happenned at Ebay.  Doesn't get much more technical than that.
