Subject: feedback
i would like to hear some feedback from someone who is following
JADE. - why is it not moving up? - rapidly growing company. making a
ton of money. low p/e. i don't get it. why doesn't the company release
more info? why no totals for 2007? - it's very frustrating

Well, I think your first question is really dependent on your second
question.  The price is beaten down right now because of a) lack of
news, b) the accounting problems the company experienced last year.

That said, I think now is a great time to pick up some shares...
especially with the olympics rolling around!  A company in the
Jewelery sector in China will benefit strongly from the Olympics, and
you can be sure that with ANY positive news, this stock will take off
(think December when they released financials).

Until any solid news comes out though, this one's probably going to be
stuck in the $2.40 - $3.15 range.  If you buy into JADE, you have to
believe that the company will continue to grow and that its accounting
problems are behind it now.  Seeing that it didn't get delisted from
NASDAQ, I think its a pretty safe bet that its accounting problems are
now in the past... and no, i don't think this is a 5-star CAPS stock
for no reason...

paulson,...  it's good to see someone else is actually following this
company.  - from all my research, it seems this is a good company with
a big future. In regards to the olympics,... i thought the majority of
their sales was to North America?

I think its safe to say that a lot of its success is dependent on how
well it does in the asian market!!

it should start to run, but can you tell us how you came up with the
$15 as a target amount?

I'll reply, it can and probably will have a run in her at some point
in time in '08.  More than likely in the summer before the olympic
games in early august.  It ran up from $4 something to around $12 in a
month and a half in early '07 so it just may do the same in June or
July also.

Okay, so how to get to the teens?

You take 1 US recession that was not as deep as expected.  You add to
this that JADE wholesale sells to the lower end US retailers which
apparently stayed modestly active through the fear time.  You then add
that the company is vertically integrated on the supply side with
partial control of its gold supply, thus lessoning the impact of that
boom in prices.  You add in FUQI results and TIF results in China to
infer JADE results.  You then add that the drop to book value was
always overdone.  Next you overwhelm all the rest and add in the ENZO
stores in China, some 97 of them now (with possible losses due to the
quake, may the victims rest in peace and the recovery be swift).
Lastly, you add that Bloomberg reported on Monday a China release on
jewelry sales saying these are up 41% this year - thus boding very
well for ENZO same store sales.  Together these are a recipe for the
teens if there are no further accounting issues and better yet, if
JADE settles the legal actions and returns to good quarterly
reporting.

Next, when this issue was last in the teens it was widely seen as
undervalued because retail sales are a major emphasis in China - part
of this is people wanting to display their new sense of prosperity and
part is a serious government push to decrease savings and increase
consumption so that the trade balance of accounts gets better.  This
means that JADE going to the teens is actually a conservative figure
and the mid-twenties is a reasonable high end number.

Further, this is a long term story and that is also part of the
shift.  JADE has been a trading stock, it is returning to investment
grade and will eventually, my quess is in the mid to late fall,
attract the momentum players.  And it bears repeating that no one has
the certain story, so we must continue to watch for any further
accounting issues and take good note if legal issues are settled and
quarterly reports resume.

Lastly, LJ is also a king sized takeover target.  The vertical
intergration of its supply chain is a huge plus.  So is its market
diversity, wholesale in the US and retail in China.  The founder is no
slouch, even if his business ethics are not western.  But under
excellent multinational management this company would be poised to
give Tiffany a serious run for its money.  These factors cannot be
lost on the M&A world.  Still I never play the acquisition investment
game.  But when it happens to fall on a stock whose other
characteristics have already attracted my attention, I happily take
note of it.  LMJN

Lime... thanks for well thought out post-- I'd agree with almost
everything pointed out. Only thing holding this stock back is exposure
(the performance and numbers are there). Now that the delisting crap
is over with, the olympics come around, and earnings releases.....this
thing is headed for the roof. Just don't tell too many people about
this stock before I can afford to double down ;)

Congrats on your potential double. I'm not in as good a shape as you.
From last July, I'm still in at over $10!  Everything hit the fan
after I got in and I didn't have a stop in!   At $5, valuation wise, I
still think JADE is a steal.

JADE is a good stock. General overall market is red   and consumer
sentiments are worst in 30 years history. Even if the stock turns out
to be good on monday earnings report, there is a chance it may be
neglected or consumers may ride on this stock to real high value, if
this has good news on monday. I have long on  this too. Only way of
winning may be to hold "Atleast" until end of this year  and see....

Not bad at all, really, in my opinion.  From what I see looking at the
numbers, and considering the condition of the US market in the first
half of 2008, their ability to increase sales seems to be a pretty
positive sign.  You're looking at a company that is completing a major
shift in market presence at a time of very tight spending.  I somewhat
have to think that they have to be glad in a way that their wholesale
numbers weren't worse while they focused on the goal of getting the
ENZO stores open.  Now that the retail expansion seems somewhat
completed for now, the selling, general and administrative costs
should decline, resulting in higher net income.  It looks to me as
though LJ spent most of the money they generated on getting the last
30 or so retail locations up and running.  I'm okay with that.  It's
not as though anyone was expecting a dividend anytime soon!  The money
spent now though should pay dividends down the line as can already be
seen in the increased retail numbers and the additional 30+ stores
generating money over a span of years should outweigh the expenses
outalyed in the past tweve months.  I would guess that had they
elected to postpone the store openings and retail growth in China they
could have turned in a much better EPS but they are sticking with the
plan that was intiated a few years ago AND getting it done without
overindebting themselves, which is a very positive sign to me.  The
one thing I did note was that their gross profit percentage did drop a
little.  I think that that is due to a higher mix of diamonds in their
product line and increased shipping related costs.  The annual report
should elaborate on that.  All in all, things could have been much
much worse.  Shares are most likely going to stay held down for a good
week though as the sell-off continues.
