It might go down further, and it might not..If it does I will buy more
of it on the way down to get my cost basis lower. For the record I am
not going to sell 1 share because I know where this stock will be in
the future. I think this is a good entry point now if you are wanting
it for a long haul. Citi has issues now but when the tide turns so
will citi and I want to be with the tide.

If I we're you freetibet..I would wait for a pullback (if it does) &
it prolly will..& put on 1/3 rd of your position & keep adding to it
on the way down. Keep in mind its only like 5 bucks off its lows so it
might not fall much more? I own it higher than the current level
myself am I am not worried. Just my advise man.

If you think the stock is cheap because it used to be $50 then I'd
look for something else in which to invest.  If you think the stock is
unfairly being bashed, then I'd ask for your reasons why it's
"unfairly" being bashed.  If you think Pandit knows what he's doing
and has a real plan to turn around the company, I'd ask what flavor
Kool-aid you've been drinking.

$21 is my target price based on my analysis and model which I
described before the current correction back when C was around $27 a
share and everyone thought they missed a buying opportunity. And that
was with conservative assumptions.

I would get out while you still can. Invest in MA or V, those are
financials that aren't effected by the mortgage crisis since they
don't lend money.

I disagree with OG..I think you should get in while you still can at a
discount!! C's stock price will suffer in the short term like it
currently is, but the street trades on futures & like I have said
before.."the future WILL be bright for citi". The fed has put a back-
stop in in the financials...this cannot be argued, do you want to buck
the fed? I don't, I want to make $!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A surer way of making money, is to buy C's assets on the cheap. it
seems their opening a liquidation shop. Their in trouble. No doubt.

i agree with a few of you that it is time to put citigroup in your
stock watchlist.
citigroup may fall or rise, but before it REALLY takes off, there will
be correction which should bring the price close to the 52-week low
eg. 20-21usd.
if you have cash in hand, wait until the 3rd quarter of this year
(start of july) to start accumulating shares.
pandit says the recession is over. but if it is over, why he is going
to dump $400bn of assets over the next few years?
this whole hypocrisy and lie wont last forever, the recession is STILL
in progress.
and the financial "SARS" will hit the us during the 3rd quarter. there
will be mass panic, and one must take this opportunity to pick the
gems left behind.
the safest way to make money, however, is to buy a stock put option.

And if the price goes up you're out by the premium you paid. How's
that making money?

A put will give you downside protection but it's also risky and you
could very well end up losing your entire investment. Something like
80% of options actually expire worthless.

If your view on a stock is neutral or mildly bullish why not Buy the
stock and Sell calls against it.  This gives you a small amount of
downside protection and a guaranteed return if the price stays where
it is or moves up.  The tradeoff is that you will miss any big
movements. Lookup buy-write in google.

Options are priced to perceived volatility.
Prices change only when volatility changes direction.
then there is the decay factor. Options are time sensitive
Options are much more risky than outright share ownership.
If your playing options without properly understanding
you most likely lack the capital resources and are using option
because of the leverage, which is the worst possible reason
because your decision is ruled by greed.  Best investment
decisions are made without the benefit of emotions, which I will
admit is prevelant and runs rampant in amature investors.

Ahhh, gambling.

Why don't you go the whole way and also toss a coin as to the
direction it'll move. Heads = calls, Tails = puts.

Anyway, risky proposition.Personally I prefer Vegas but to each his
own.

I wish you luck

citi is where you want to be in wide spread panic, the commodities
will fall hard in the 3rd quarter.  Short Oil all the way and long
financials, greed will kill the oil price.  There are too many players
playing musical chairs and not enough seats I made that call with gold
back in March.

Guys right now the 50 day MA has been cross so its a good time to get
in last time it done this as in April and the stock went from 23.5 to
26.7.

Also the 5 day moving average has been cross at the same time the 50
day moving average. With moderatley low volume in the troughs
signaling a bullish state is approching. Also a 2 white candle sticks
in a row getting bigger as the days pass also signals a bullish
state.

Futhure verification that C is going up a few $ is financials are
doing well for the shorts since SKF is going down (SKF goes up when
financials do bad). SKF's 5 day MA has been broken and its on its way
down.

I will not say whats going to happen within a month. But im shorting
this baby all the right signals are their.

If you guys really want to make money you should look into options.
I think right now the way to go is chinese gaming stocks like NCTY.
Another good play would be uranium stocks.  That sector has been
hammered, but I think it is due for a turn around.  Get on that option
train!
Check out this new blog that talks a little about it:

I have Dec/08 $25 calls.  Market sentiment is already changing;
investors have been shot hundreds of times with the subprime gun, its
going to take a subpirme nuke to move C under $20.  The bad news is
priced in.  Keep in mind that the Sovereign fund has an unlimited
supply of cash if Citi needs it.  C is a buy in the low 20's.

I did, i just mean to go to short for the upside. Go short in a
bullish state. If bullish state means to go long for you then i guess
my statement is wrong. Cant tell whats going to happen in the long run
the market is pretty unpredictable at the moment. But im going short
for the upside.

My worry with this stock is that we will not see the upside for
several years. It could take 24-26 months for this stock to break $30,
especially with the way it has been trading in the last 6 months. I am
also looking at the costs of restructuring. Will C come back? Yes! But
I don't know when. Unless they chose to cut the dividend even further,
which given Pandit's steadfast decisions to maintain a dividend,
buying in the low 20's is paying you to wait.
