up 4.6% production for 3Q

while Gold Fields Ltd.'sproduction was up 4.6% at 865,000 for the
quarter (3Q) Now we're in the 4Q for this year, anyone expecting more
production increases or decreases w/ the shutting down of the
southdeep mine?

your going to get that w/ all these safety issues.. holy crap.. i'm
beginning to wonder the condition of the other older mines that GFI
operatoes; news says kloof mines are closed for 6 months going to lose
out on 3 tonnes of gold due to this!

I personally bought shares of GFI @ $14 and sold them at $11 realizing
losses...right now I think that right now Gold isn´t the best pick
since what we´ve seen in the past weeks is a pull back in commodity
prices....If I´d invest on a mining stock, I certainly choose BVN
istead of GFI.
It´s just my opinion after lots of research, but who knows what might

Anyone seeing a long pattern here? There have been a lot of strikes
and saftey concerns, and the new CEO stresses safety concerns. The
strikes are involved partially due to the news about them needing to
drop 1,800 people and / or moving them to different mines which are
farther away.

cash flow and put it back into a profitable margin and the new CEO
expects to raise output by early 2009; filling up while its low is

Wow. Gold is getting hit hard by the financial rally. I am debating

I believe you are correct with your prediction. I have also assumed a
position that this will slowly elevate itself to about the $15.5 - $16

I agree w/ this, I can see this becoming a pre-bull. I am suspect to
$16.75 by end of the year, the price of gold is continuously showing a
nice incline. Stock up now while its on this decline today.
The strikes are minimal, and production has not been said to have been
affected all too seriously.

Woops, I mean a PE of 15 for GFI and a PE of 60 for GG. I can
understand that GG is in a less volatile area compared to GFI
( America vs South Africa), but GFI just had a great quarter and is
making more money per share than Goldcorp. What gives?

Maybe you can help with this, but why does GFI have such a low PE (30)
compared to GG (70) when they are making more money per share? GG has
a multiple that is more than twice as high?
