Subject: SNP - bought at $126
Hi Guys,

Bought SNP at $126/share - Any china /SNP/oil industry experts please
reco HOLD or SELL on this. Hopefully yuan appreciation should help.

Would you recommend SELL and buy FXP say at $83 to 88/share?  Not sure
now what is happening in china- I think I made a big bloody mistake to
put any money in China at these prices.

Thanks
SC

I think you have already lost the money you are going to lose from the
January reset, so the thing to ask yourself is do you want to wait
three months when the long slow cycle brings prices back up - Or do
you go ahead and trade for daily/weekly highs.

It looks like a market bottom to me in energy and basic materials -
The Chinese themselves believe the year of the Rat is generally
inauspicious for business, but that the first half of the year will
favor mining activities (Earth), and the last half favor shipping and
oil (Water).   The whole year should be positive for publishing and
construction (Wood)... Although I'm still waiting for a bottom in the
US construction market.

Currently SNP seems to have stabilized and is trading in a channel
$107 to $117;  You could make money on each heartbeat if you want.  No
dishonor in that.

My bad.  Maybe we will find support here at $101 to $104.
I missed my sell (I had a limit order in for when the stock
reached 80% of the high in the trading range), and it stalled at
$116.  I think not-a-problem, I'll just sell at the next peak, then
over-night it suddenly falls past the lower Bollinger band,
from $109 to $102.

The market is so stinkin today, I'm going in more on
basic materials.

recommend SELL and buy back when it's lower. go for daily trade...

the price of SNP is still too high(it's possible to drop to mid-80 or
somewhere in 70). this company is great, but the big market has the
driving force.

personally, i think if ppl wanna invest in the chinese ADRs, they
should wait to the olympic is over. you might not believe this, but
the game has a huge impact on the market

In fact, SNP is making a solid bottom @78. The gap up is the first to
84, and long march to the fair value of 110. I have started to buy
into SNP from 84 to 86. There are a lot of shorts on both SNP and PTR
now. It is the question of time before they are covering. To counter
attack to the shorter is to hold, provided that you don't trade on
margin. Now, SNP is cheaper than XOM and COP. Secondly, China adds
more cars than all over the world. Thirdly, although gov caps the
retail price, they still make $70b in 07 (40% of profit increase).
Imagine if the price cap is removed. XOM is the yesterday story, and
SNP and PTR is for tomorrow, especially the chinese stock bubble has
been popped. I have been shorting china since Nov 07. Now this is my
first long on Chinese stock in the past 1 year. The better part is the
central banks are injecting the paper money now. US $ will tank, and
CNY will be up. SNP buy crude in US$, and sell in CNY. It is the
perfect inflation hedge and currency hedge. But you need to sit on it
and wait patiently. Remember the best part is just ahead.

you can also buy more even the price up. as the oil might hit $4/gal
in the summer, you might even make some money.

recommend daily trade coz nobody knows how the big market is gonna be
in a few months.....

yeah. pretty risky stock compared to CEO. i bought in at around 160
and i'm still eating it. i should have gotten rid of it months ago,
but i was always hoping that it'd bounce back. still eating it, but at
least it's going back up. it's already $4/gal. it's about $4.18/gal in
CA, but i imagine that it must be even more in HI.

i take my words back. since the gov decides the oil price, so no
matter how high the price rocks, it doesnt look like to be beneficial
to the chinese oil companies. however, the chinese gov had said they
will give these companies funds or more like aids to cover the losses.

im not saying they wont make money. we all know these companies are
the most profitable companies in asia. but these losses more or less,
will resist the claiming profits. it really depends on whether how
much these aids will cover
