Subject: Evergreen Solar was upgraded by JPMorgan
JPMorgan has decided to make some key solar ratings changes this
morning.
Evergreen Solar (ESLR) was upgraded to Overweight from Underweight.

That's the reason the stock gapped up so much, and keeps going up
after the open.

Check it out:

yeah JPMorgan upgraded ESLR with a $5 target price. BUT ON WHAT BASIS?
why this company becomes suddenly so special?

this sudden surge in stock price will be similar to what happen in mid
June where it went up to almost $3 only to be down to low $2 level the
following week... this upgrade is causing short term bubble. economy
status is still blur so such huge upgrade in target price is so
ridiculous.

The basis for the upgrade was clearly stated. "The Evergreen and
Energy Conversion ratings are based on less downside risk."
http://247wallst.com/2009/07/02/jpmorgan-solar-picks-and-pans-ener-es...

Note:  I did not pick ENER because of its involvement with thin-film
technology that does not use silicon. Sorry, don't have the URL to
guide you to the article that panned thin-film non-silicon solar
stocks. ...  ESLR uses silicon in it's "string" technology.

My theory... and i'm a mere peon.... is that ESLR is a Massachusetts-
based firm that will be a major beneficiary of the Q3 Obama energy
stimulus funds that will be doled out by the millions. Research it...
in late March (i believe) it was reported that Mass. would receive
millions to install alternative energy (90% of it solar) into the Mass
infrastructure. Do you think that the state of Mass would go out-of-
state to purchase this technology? I know if i were a voter i would
want the funds to be spent in-state than anywhere else, lest my
politician had a good reason why he wouldn't to stimulate my local
economy.

Plus, the funds generated by the stock offering were to go towards the
building of their China plant, helping them to reduce the cost of
producing the tech, and making them a bigger player in the Chinese
market - one that is itching for solar tech.

Anyhow, i did buy in at the offering (actually a lil bit under @ 1.77)
and am looking to ride till at least 6... if it doesn't reach and
falls flat... I'll pull the ripcord.

I understand the cynicism. But and however, Listen, it was not JPM
that bought at the share offering of $1.80 in May. It was Piper
Jaffrey. And don't forget, credit was tight, and is tight, and back
then, there was an immediate problem with Sovello.  Read the fine
print. Dig into the archives. ...So maybe management felt it had to do
what it did.  Here's the quote from

Evergreen Solar Closes on Public Offering, Including Exercise in Full
of Underwriter’s Over-allotment Option

MARLBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Evergreen Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq: ESLR)
announced today that it closed the sale of its previously announced
public offering of common stock at a price to the public of $1.80 per
share for a total of 42.55 million shares, including the sale of 5.55
million shares pursuant to the exercise in full of the underwriter’s
over-allotment option. Total proceeds, net of underwriter’s discount,
resulting from the offering, including the exercise of the
underwriter’s over-allotment option, were approximately $72.5 million.

Evergreen Solar expects to use the net proceeds from the offering (1)
to fund its planned initial 100 MW wafer manufacturing facility in
Wuhan, China, which, assuming the Wuhan government provides or
facilitates financing for approximately two-thirds of the initial
expansion cost, is expected to require between $15 million and $20
million; (2) to purchase capital equipment required for further
expansion of its Midland, Michigan string factory; and (3) for general
corporate purposes, including working capital and possible payments to
its Sovello joint venture (or Sovello's lenders) that may be required
under certain circumstances.

Piper Jaffray & Co. acted as sole underwriter for the offering.

Copies of the final prospectus for this offering may be obtained by

Talk about market manipulation our old buddy, good buddy Jim Cramer is
getting exposed for his relationship with the Russian Mob by whoring
for short selling Michael Milken hedge fund gang of murderers who
needlessly let 60,000 die in a single year while they put the fix in
at the FDA and the SEC, even Bernnie Madoff has his stinky finger in
the deal.  That's right Berrnie was shorting DNDN using new rules he
invented allowing market makers to circumvent the law.

Below what Journalism and free speech is really about:

<Snip>
Michael Milken, 60,000 Deaths, and the Story of Dendreon
by Mark Mitchell
Where we left off, we had learned that CNBC’s Jim Cramer had declared
Dendreon to be a “battleground stock.” And we had learned that
Dendreon subsequently came under attack by criminal naked short
sellers, right at the time that its promising treatment for prostate
cancer had been endorsed by an FDA expert advisory panel, and right
before that treatment was to be derailed by some strange occurrences.
The Dendreon saga continues. Today we meet another shady financial
analyst, and begin to understand how the criminal Michael Milken stood
to profit from the demise of the company with the only promising new
treatment for prostate cancer.

All JPM is saying by less downside risk is that stocks like this and
ENER are priced right to buy in.  They were at or near 52-week lows,
so even if they were to go down a bit, investors won't lose their
shirts on stocks like this.  That's all they mean.  Buy cheap, sell
high in other words.

I had ENER and did well because of the upgrade, but I think several
solars will do very well this fall -- as one poster mentioned above.
Obama's stimulus kicking in this fall will be big for the alt. energy
sector.  I also think more expensive oil this fall will contribute
too.
