MRU ended F09 on a strong note, with Q4/F09 EPS of $0.77 (+19%),
beating RBC CM’ forecast of $0.73 and consensus of $0.72. The Q4/F09
results reflect: 1) productivity gains in the Ontario market; 2) above-
average tonnage growth as in-store re-merchandising gains traction and
MRU benefits from consumer trade-down; 3) apparent modest market share

Jeesh! I think this is a pretty draconian response, Lattes!

Lat time I checked, Loblaw is trying to make a difference and you are
shooting them down for it! BTW, ALL but one of the points that you are
making is related to the "pay for plastic shopping bag program". The
rest seems related to some general unhappiness with Loblaw's packing

I agree with this fellow. It's not like the prices are any cheaper
because they've stopped using plastic bags...i would have expected
that. You go to another place like Food Basics where it's the same
policy on the bags and their prices are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
better!!!!

Metro knows what they're doing and is a way better stock to invest in

While I applaud you for your move to stop using plastic bags and
encouraging people to bring their own re-usable bags there have been
some very serious unintended consequences. Following are some that I
have observed and are the reasons that I have decided to no longer
shop at Loblaw or Loblaw affiliated stores. They are also the reasons
