Subject: Whats wrong with this stock?
I bought at 13 after I hear a target of 16.  This stock has obviously
not performed.  I am most likely calling it a day when this gets back
over 12.  Theres gotta be better ways to make $ than speculating on
cheap airline stock, Im sure Im not the only coming to this
conclusion.  Maybe thats why the price here keeps slowly fading.

My optimism for airline stocks is derived from the progression of the
Continnental Stock.  I was too cheap to buy @ 24 and it went to 50.
(Down to 36 now) But there was $$ made there.  There's an obvious
difference in the 2 companies Im sure.  History being one.
Continental has it, Jet doesn't.

When Jet first started up, I thought their service sounded awesome.
The played up their dedication to customer service, the Ads were kinda
clever too.  Thats why I bought it.  The lack of a pulse in the stock
make me want to move on.  And if they did fail, they wouldnt be the
first budget airline to fold.  Another convincing arguement against
the stock.

Can someone provide a flip side to my pestimism?  Are there good
fundimental qualities?  Is there some underlying detail, that says
this company will have some history in the future, and become as
permanant as we can consider any of the big airlines that have stood
the test of time?  Will this stock find a pulse?

I don't know about any kind of short term expectations for this
company, but I believe they're a strong airline in the long term.  I
know it was 6 years ago, but after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, JBLU
was the only US airline to stay in the black.  They've got smart
management and a good business plan.  Unlike major airlines, JBLU
doesn't buy a bunch of different types of planes.  This means they
don't need to hire a bunch of different mechanic specialists nor do
they need to keep a warehouse filled with tons of parts for all of
their different planes.
They're a strong company in the long run in my opinion.  I bought in
at $13 also and have been disappointed, but I think over a couple
years you'll see steady growth.

I pulled my chute @ 11.9.  Maybe I'll get back in a little further
down.
Thanks for your opinion, where do you think the bottom is?  How likely
is 10 or less?  In hindsight what price would you hold out for?

You probably got in at the right time.

Today it looks higher even with a forward looking earnings reduction.
Thanks also to an upgrade elsewhere.

I am hopeful the bottom is over, but only if 100+ point reductions are
done with too.

JB has a balck eye still and it will take months if not another year
to look better to the investing community.
Wall Street will forget fast if they can provide some good earnings
though.

With all the airlines seeming to be able to support higher tickets
than last year, seems possible things will be brighter.

Thanks for all your insights.

I had a strong brand connection with this product in the early days.
But no matter what their board does, it seems their customer service
team repeatedly fails to make this carrier seem anything more than
Southwest.  They change your flight, shaft you with the fees to change
downstream travel reservations and then offer to push your flight off
5 hours or cash back.  That's it!??  No complimentary points, no
voucher, no effort to fix the situation.  Why book ahead when they
can't deliver on their commitments.  How does that help the customer?
Their management team shows no signs of deep experience maintaining
commitments to customers as they grow and their call center is about
as helpful and concessionary as doorknob..

I do not understand how anybody is expecting JBLU to do well with-in
the next 6 months or so.  I am actually watching this stock closely
hoping that the price keeps FALLING.  In at 13$?  I wasn't even
considering it until its in the 10's.  If it dips past 9 I'm
definitely buying some.

It appears to be a good company going through a rough patch.  Thats
what I look for: Companies that are doing fine until some bad PR.
(jblu's could have been certain doom, but they played it right and
turned it into a temporary setback.  Enough to let me get the stock
cheap, but not enough to ruin the stocks future.

In my humble opinion....

They have a very solid business, as is mentioned in several of the
other postings in this thread. I think that the company as a whole
will have a much different showing to investors, after this quarters
earnings are shown. We need to see how much this has cost to remedy. I
think it is a buy, especially as it gets closer to the reporting.
Jim Cramer has also expressed these same views, I believe it was on
Friday, in the lightning round.

Subject: JBLU possible takeover target?
Hi, i have being buying airline stocks for several years and recently
sold out of JBLU at 12. However the airline industry will need to
consolidate or merge in order to beat the competition. At this level i
would not be suprised if JETBLUE was a takeover target. Watch this
space.

A takeover target at 30x earnings?  When other airlines are trading at
6x - 10x?  Go read up on ROI and see if you still think it's a
takeover target.
