One glaring omission is option data. They could have created a link to
Yahoo Finance for options... But it's a good start and one that allows
them to monetize most of those ticker searches.

One of the most promising feature actually is the moderated discussion
boards. The biggest failings of Yahoo! has been the appalling content
on their boards. If Google manages to keep the content focused and
rational (thanks to moderation and rating), Google finance could easily
 become the place where people go first when the market moves.

Future will tell...

Well, actually the link is there... Just does not go to Yahoo! Finance
for good measure :)
