Subject: Launch of Droid: Motorola/Verizon/Google Android OS
I am excited about the launch (expected within next week or so in US)
of the Droid.  I am thinking seriously about buying this Google
Experience phone (as opposed to a hybrid Android device such as HTC
Hero or Motorola Cliq which builds additional layer (Sense and BLUR
respectively) on top of Android, esp for social networking).  This
decision is personal and I appreciate many will want the integrated
social network feature of the Hero and Cliq devices.

The Droid is expected to run on Android 2.0 (Eclair) using Texas
Instruments OMAP 3430 processor, making it the fastest Android device
to date!  The 5 MP camera and the GPS features will set the phone
apart.  The only slight negative I guess is the lack of push messaging
technology that BLUR offers to Cliq users but I assume that will not
be too big an issue for most buyers of the Droid. Verizon is really
pushing this one hard....I liked the Droid commercial introduced last
weekend. I expect Verizon will spend marketing dollars behind this
phone in ads and subsidy. Motorola is making a huge commitment to
Android (eliminating Windows mobile, Linux and Symbian) and I believe
it will turn the company around as it will streamline their component
sourcing and distribution strategies by concentrating on one common
operating system, Android. Good luck to them! I also look forward to
the many other Android devices that Motorola plans to launch in 2010
("tens of Androids" in their words) including a high end 3G touch
tablet, a mid end touch tablet, and more QWERTY device sliders with
touch screen and high and medium specs around camera, BLUR software
inclusion, WiFi, GPS, etc.

Anyone else planning to buy or consider the Droid or the many
anticipated Android devices from Motorola? The launch will, IMO,
improve the Google ecosystem experience on mobile devices....all good
news for Google search/ad revs.

This product that is preloaded with Google as the web browser will
help boost the Ad numbers for GOOGLE, in turn boosting profits.
