Subject: RE: where is google going
I am still calling out Google Senior management to reiterate how sound
the Google is as a company. Since the senior mgt is very passive,
stupid compnaies like ComScore can drop the stock price dramatically.
This is not good. They come out and say stuff and then try to correct
it after causing the stock to go down almost 50 points. Is this really
legal? Did they do that on purpose? I cannot beleive Google executives
are not defending their company. Google maybe a very good innovative
company but they are not good in management.

I don't care what company an upper exec works for, they are not
cheerleaders.  Stocks don't always go up and you can't expect
management to jump on every on drop in the stock and say we are solid
and this did not happen...
Stocks go down at times and if the company is truly a good company
then it will eventually recover.

we are not talking about little drops here, very big drops. I see your
point but what about the way comScore came out and caused a big drop.
Then they tried to ease the pain. What the hell is that all about? We
are leaving in America not a third world country. Is what they did
legal?

Google was worth $740 at one point - that would indicate the market as
a whole thought their management was at least "good.". They cannot be
held responsible for a recession, or for the media spinning every
story that may hint at bad news.

The results will speak for themselves - as they have in the past.

I think they are quiet because they know it is true. If the retail
sector is down in general, and those are the major users of GOOG Ad
Sense as well as the Advertisers whose business is down, how could you
possibly spin that without flat out lying? GOOG's flawed business
model has been revealed and the GOOG bubble seems to have been busted.
Now they have to start figuring out a way to make money with the money
they have from Investors.

Has anyone noticed that Goog is trading at a P/E of 34.54 where as
yhoo is trading at a P/E of 59.54 and Baidu is trading at a P/E of
96.74?  That's quite a difference, especially because I think that
Goog has the best future economic outlook.  Once this market ends its
drop, I'll definitely be buying more goog.

tfv...,

I am genuinely curious to know how do you come to know that a stock is
going to test the low of some day in past , in this case GOOG. what
exactly are you looking at to conclude that GOOG could test 437
level. ?

Can people please stop comparing the P/E of GOOG, YHOO, and BIDU.
YHOO has an offer to be bought out at 31/share otherwise YHOO would be
around 16 which would give it a P/E of 34.
GOOG has a market cap of 142 and the market cap of BIDU is 8 billion
so they obviously BIDU obviously has a lot more room to grow.  Plus if
you look back in the IPO days of GOOG they had a P/E around 100.
YHOO P/E is only higher because they have a offer on the table, BIDU
because they have a ton of uncapatilized market share.

indicator as to where GOOG should and will be trading by the end of
the year.

How about this BIDU comparison - since Nov 6 - GOOG at 741 - GOOG down
37% but BIDU down 42%.  Hooray, GOOG won!

We're all in the same boat.  Comparing valuations in this market looks
to be irrelevant.  NASDAQ is down 20%, highflyers x2.  If we're headed
for a recession, 7% inflation and 7% unemployment, and another 20%
drop in residential RE and 30% in commercial RE (where party's just
starting) - well draw your own conclusion.

The better question, when does the credit crunch ease up?  September?
Next March?

I am not sure when the party will start again for GOOG, but one thing
which i have learnt about investing in high fliers like AAPL & GOOG is
that they go in either direction very fast (esp. downward direction
very very fast) and if you are caught on the wrong side of the trade
then you will be butchered.

well you assume third world countries dont have laws, and further you
assume everything is hunky dory in the US, have you forgotten enron?
But worst of all you assume you made a wise decision to invest in
google at the price you did (i hope you did, else you wouldnt be
wasting your time on the price of google). What was the basis, and on
what valuation? I don't think google is worth more than 300 at current
earning levels, so this is bound to go down further!

Ha ha ha. Just see the difference in search results quality and
responsiveness. It is not easy to come up with a better search either.
Lot goes into the backend and distributed computing.

No doubt that GOOG must diversify ASAP and show that on their balance
sheet.
