Subject: what's happened to this stock
I have seen this stock roll slowly down hill for the past 6 months. I
know there is a big debate over the pebble mine and was wondering if
anyone has any info. I used to live in Alaska but moved for a new job.
Is the pebble mine going to get voted out or is the pebble mine going
ahead as planned?

Ballot Measure No. 4: 07WTR3 - Bill Providing For Regulation Of Water
Quality

This bill imposes two water quality standards on new large scale
metallic mineral mining operations in Alaska. The first standard does
not allow such a mining operation to release into water a toxic
pollutant that will adversely affect human health or the life cycle of
salmon. The second standard does not allow such a mining operation to
store mining wastes and tailings that could release sulfuric acid,
other acids, dissolved metals or other toxic pollutants that could
adversely affect water that is used by humans or by salmon. The bill
defines a large scale metallic mineral mining operation to mean a
metallic mineral mining operation that is in excess of 640 acres in
size. The bill defines toxic pollutants to include substances that
will cause death and disease in humans and fish, and includes a list
of substances identified as toxic pollutants under federal law.
(Note: The Fairbanks Superior Court decision stated that this
initiative is proper and should appear on the 2008 Primary Election.
This decision is currently being appealed but until we hear otherwise
through the appeal process it will appear on the 2008 Primary
Election)

cap. is 593.85 million and there is estimated 500 billion in the

In answer to testsurvey, this is in only the preliminary stages.  They
are pursuing drilling to find gold, they must clear environmental
hurdles as detailed above, then they must prepare the site if they get
environmental approval, then they must build the site out, then build
out the road system and any environmental guards required, get all the
equipment and hire the people, then start drilling.  If all goes well,
they might start getting gold, etc. out of the ground in about 3 to 4
years.  In the interim, they may become more attractive to more senior
partners, depending upon how the cost structure goes to pursue
mining.  If you can stand the risk of your money in case nothing is
ever gotten out of the ground, then be patient.  Otherwise, look
elsewhere for the time being.  They are years away.
