Subject: Time to start calling a bottom here!
Please listen to their webcasts, I learned a lot from listening to
them.
I have been jumping in and out of this the last few weeks, and its
time to make a final stand. I bought shares yesterday,  they are the
best value in the entire sector. Navios is more than a dry bulker,
they are a excellent infrastructure company, right in the heart of the
fastest growing emerging markets.

Currently i have bids in in a step down fashion. Im looking to buy
more here, and have bids in steps lower.

But lets look at the facts.

The Baltic Dry Index has stopped tanking. in fact the curve has
flattened and is turning up.
Navios the stock price is following the trends in the Baltic index.

As long as the companies that chartered Navios boats, dont cancel
their contracts, this stock is the buy of a lifetime! And looking at
their main customers Petrobras, Cargill, Exxon, RIO, etc... Dont think
these major global players are all likley to default. And if you are
worried about the new boats being delivered, they are contracted out
for 2-3 years the moment they hit the water!

Buy of a lifetime here, all those big blocks of sells going on are
margin calls buy hedge funds. Their loss is our gain!

Ok well bought lot more shares @ 1.66   Looks like lot of margin calls
went off at same time in that range. then the stock started to recover
from the low. Baltic Index showing more signs of stability.

What is your definition of a lot more shares?  My issue is I don't
want to try to call a bottom or catch a falling sword.

Well if NM closes up on the day we have a classic textbook
capitulation bottom here! Look at the huge surge in volume followed by
heavy buying and continued price improving. Lets push it over
yesterdays close and its clear sailing!

ok so we are having a retesting of the lows earlier in the day. Looks
like we are possibly forming a double bottom here on the intraday
charts. I think this would be a positive. If it breaks the double
bottom its not good sign, however Earnings are coming next week! Is
Navios really worthless and going out of business? Is there no value
in the 50 year old business, the most advanced port terminal in south
america, and all those ships with long term contracts? Thats what you
would think from the way these hedge funds are dumping heir shares!

I hope so. Hopefully they keep their future dividends goin' (thinking
of what happened over at DSX). I think they can, it's equivalent to ~
$36M/year right now, and they had $457M in cash ($171.67M) & short
term investments ($259.61M) & AR ($105.02M) as of 2008-06-30 - their
last E report. So let's hope for a decent earnings report and good
cash flow outlook in 2009. (I'm just realizing I hate the word hope.)

Yes, I am feeling the same way.  It has been a tough week of averaging
down to 2.08.  One thing I have not seen on here is any reference to
NMM, which is a related Navios stock.  NMM posted a great quarter and
actually increased the divined.  All signs say this is a good buy.
Most analysts I have looked at rated a buy, and the Motley Fool Caps
group loves this one.  Best of luck to all of us involved!

I guess I'll go back to stickin' my thumbs up my own bottom.

I guess some want 0 risk now. They must be getting dimes on the dollar
for NM. Well, it's been interesting watching all these new bottoms
come and go...

I believe that the bdi has increased the past five days (correct me if
I'm wrong i'm going on memory, i check it each AM), so it seems to be
going in the right direction.  I'm in NM and EXM, going to buy more
shares of both this week too.

I normally check it here:  http://www.dryships.com/index.cfm?get=report

Today the stock traded in a very wide range and NM is still holding
the support line,  if we keep flirting with this key level without
breaking through it, then this bottom call will still be valid. I have
my balls to the wall on this one, and Im not standing down, no guts no
glory. If someone wants to drive the price down, I will just buy more
cheaper! A huge positive that gives me the guts to do this and is
making my case is the  25 million buyback that Navios has begun. On an
average of 1 million shares of Navios being traded each day. This 25
million could buy the entire volume of trading shares for nearly a
month! and if you add that to the normal volume of buyers, Just the
effect of this 25 million stimulus package will put the value of the
stock above and beyond $4. So sell if you want, but dont cry when NM
is upwards of $40 in only a few years. Too bad people read headlines
get emotional and sell when it's not in their best intrest. I have no
doubt that Navios cash position is superior to its peers. And they
will have the ability to gain market share and come out of this
downturn ahead of the rest. If you dont believe me just look at the
price of EXM during the last recession. around $1 in 2003 right before
it went to $80 in 2007

Look at the hard facts! Population growth is not going into a
recession. The world is becoming more and more populated and connected
each day. Don't overlook this fact, as it will pull us out of this
mess that priced NM nearly 1/11 of the price it was only 3 months ago,
and 1/19 the price it was a year ago.The fact is that  People want
more, more, more. As long as humans continue to be humans and strive
to have a better standard of life, Navios will live long and prosper!
Im not letting fear rule the day. Keep a cool head and focus on the
facts, dont get emotional.

Hi Ralphjk,

good question.  I don't have the answer but the current market cap
based on current share price is a little over 121 million.  That is an
interesting figure when you consider what it costs to buy a new ship
of any size/class.  Based on the fleet that they own, their stakes in
other companies, and the logistics business and terminal in South
America, and their current multi-year contracts already in place, I
seriously doubt that they could be purchased for under a billion.  I
don't know what a realistic figure would be ... but they are in a
strong position with their current structure.  Maybe someone else who
has experience in corporate valuations could weigh in?

If the company stopped working to-day and they sold everything the
shares should be worth  - 7.63 - minus the cost of selling the assets
say 25% - say $5.72 a share - if you think the company will stay in
business - then based on the last 2 years of income the shares should
be worth $22.28 - how can anyone buy stock with out knowing what they
are buying - its like buying a pair of shoes - with your eyes closed
and not trying them on - and when do you know when to sell -
