I almost sold a few days ago at $6.9 but canceled the limit order just
in time.  I remembered that the fundamentals and business plan for
this company have not changed.  They needed to cut the divy to play it
safe.  They buy ships when they have committed customers.  Shipping
stocks will be the last to rebound in this economic recovery but the
past few days might be signaling that it is time to buy solid shippers.

Economic recovery and all, but what is the reason for this boat to
ride such high waves today?
A good business model isn't the reason for this 6+ percent rise, there
must be something else out there...

I don't know of any specific news, but I've held for several months,
refusing to sell during the dark days of March, and now I'm even;
coincidentally, I bought some call contracts yesterday!

You are right, I was just indicating my rational for not selling
earlier in the week.

I believe that there were several reasons for the rise.  Note that the
rise was just not today.  It had been holding firm the past couple of
weeks (relatively speaking) and this whole week has been very good for
SSW.

The additional ship acquisition and contract confirms that their
business model is working even in these difficult times.  At some
point everyone knew that this was going to start rising.

As I said shipping stocks will be one of the last to rebound in this
economic recovery.  Shipping stocks have lagged the market and at some
point these stocks were/are going to fly.  In general, riskier
companies have lead the stock market recovery.  Money is now going
from some of the riskier stocks to some of the solid names in the
transportation and industrial sectors (up 5% this week) that have
lagged the market.  Financials were down 1% this week.  It is just
normal sector rotation.

There was also the good news from FDX which gave a boost to the entire
transportation sector today.  The stocks for several high quality (and
even some low quality) shipping companies rose this past week, with
the biggest gain happening today.  In general it was a very good week
for high quality names in the transportation sector.

I almost sold this one earlier, it kept bouncing between $6-7 and
didn't really see it go up, and must admit I don't really understand
this continuous rise.
Probably we'll see some news on this stock or sector soon that will
explain, as always, the market is right, so something must be going
on, but fact is that this company was set for a great start on
economic recovery: if people start to consume again, the goods need to
be coming in, and ships are the way to do it.

months ago had to sell to use cash for another investment, should have
held some.Good luck.!!!!
