AUY is still trading with the dow but gold is also up this morning $20/
oz, so we have a win/win for gold miners as the dow clawed back into
positive/even territory. However, I don't like how influenced AUY is
to broader equity pressure. If I was in under $9 I'd probably take the
money here and run, unless you believe gold keeps climbing from here.

Problem is that for this to continue, we really need the dollar to
slide, in order to keep the dow green, and to push gold higher. Gold
is not higher today solely because of the dollar, so there is
something else at work.

BUT AUY is seeing some heavier volume here, eh? Something is up with
gold... with unemployment numbers coming on friday, we could see a low
number weaken the dollar and push us higher, or we could see a
terrible horribly high number which will send us way lower even if
gold rises. But I think most likely it comes in close to expectations,
so who's got another catalyst?

I say this is the way up...

3month symmetrical triangle break out, with a 6 month ascending
triangle break out WITH volume support!

Doesn't get more supportive in terms of technicals.

Price target = $11.50

In general, there is a strong inverse relationship between gold and
USD. However, the dollar doesn't need to slide for gold to rise. For
the market to drop like it did yesterday... it means that sentiment of
people are thinking to hedge gold in respect to the general market
weakness.  Transfer of money from  equity stocks ---> commodity gold =
increase demand --> rise in price.

This is my best guess... I could be wrong.
