Looks like spot gold is at a "moment of truth". It's really right at
that magic spot, where it either confirms this new uptrend, or
confirms the larger downtrend. Could go either way, but 931-933 is a
key area not to break out below from.

Unemployment rate inches up to 9.5%, which is higher, but a tad less
than expected. Hourly earnings stayed flat, and new jobless claims is
still over 600K. Overall I'd say this is some nasty data, but I really
did expect the unemployment rate to be worse than expected... we'll
see how the markets take this all in. Flat earnings points to
deflation though... watch the dollar today.

This is a bad place for spot gold right now.

What AUY giveth,  AUY taketh away.  Ive been sitting highly leveraged
in SDS just because of the trading range golds been stuck in and how I
didnt like the resistance I was looking at yesterday with SnP.
Finally on the right "short" side of the coin.  I truly feel more days
like today could be on the horizon in the near term:(

Well, is any of this really a surprise? I don't think so. I mean, the
surprise to me was that unemployment didn't grow more sharply... I
think just a slight increase in factory orders, due out at 10am, is
all it could take for an early morning reversal.

Perhaps, I wouldnt be surprised to see gold come down and hit this 915
again.  I dont think today but perhaps in the coming days.  Gold
showed some fairly good resistance @915-927....enough for me not to be
too bearish, its just with a broad market correction I worry a drastic
pullback could be in the works.  I'm not holding any equity overnight
until the market shows me how it performs at lower support levels.
Until than.....Im short.  Although today Im looking at
BAC.....Everytime Boa corrects it "springs-back" the following
session.  IDK financials, what a f$%^ing mess.

I think anyone playing this week is playing with fire. Until we see
some clear indication of what is going on I am sitting out. I got out
last week and I dont think I cold stomach this week if I was in ha.
There is just too many factors here. You got like no volume, that
alone makes things unpredictable. Gold and the dollar are both
hovering. It might make for a great day trade but that is not my
thing. Next week will clear alot of confusion up hopefully. The only
bullish thing I see out of gold is that is still is above 900. Its
summer, and we all know metals die out now. So for it to be holding
here is quite nice. I would like to see one last dip under 900 so I
can load up for what I feel will be the "big push"

Smart move.  If you're trading by the hour/day/week/month sure, when
you can't find a clear trend, wait it out.  I wouldn't feel
comfortable trading gold in the short term without a clear pattern.
Waiting for gold to drop below 900?  Hey join the club, just hope you
don't miss out when everybody else buys in too.

If your time horizon is in the years, whether by gold or other
commodity/currency/property investment, betting against the USD would
be fairly safe.

week.  GWTA.
