Subject: SEC Filings
There have been a number of SEC filings over the past week. Two of
which were today - a 13g filed by Morgan Stanley, and a 13 g/a by SAC
Capital Advisors.

Should filings like these be considered a bullish or a bearish sign?

If for some reason these links don't work, you can find these filings
in the Investor section on APP's website. You can also sign up to have
all SEC filings emailed to you the day they are filed.

Thanks for the links. Do you know why an investor would file 13 G form?

I really don't think it's bullish or bearish, just interesting to see
who
has large positions in the company. I bet MS and SAB will be the
first two companies to start buy analysis after earnings. =)

Not to mention Stephen Cohen's SAC Capital's strong position. It's
always good to see him getting behind a stock.

You are right about Cohen. His big position is why I bought in. We
will have to be patient until earnings. Meanwhile I did not realize
how big the American Apparel wholesale business is.

On Friday's newswire, Cohen reported a 5.5% stake in APP:

February 15, 2008 | 11:54 AM - "Steven Cohen Reports 5.5% Stake In
American Apparel" Dow Jones Newswires

Considering that Cohen is a renowned value investor, and currently
rated as the 47th richest person in America, his position in APP
should make us pretty darn confident.

On the subject of Steven Cohen and his large 5.5% stake in APP, it
might interest you guys to take a quick look back at Cohen's
involvement in Wet Seal's dramatic turnaround exactly 2 years ago...

02/17/06 - 01:13 PM EST
http://www.thestreet.com/story/10269221/1/wet-seal-turns-it-around.html

"For S.A.C., Wet Seal has proved to be a huge success. The shares have
nearly tripled since the firm bought its stake over a year ago. The
company posted an operating profit for the third quarter -- its first
quarterly operating profit since the second quarter of fiscal 2002 --
and narrowed its net loss to $6.5 million, or 14 cents a share, from
last year's $24.2 million, or 67 cents a share. The results included
$2.5 million in stock-compensation charges and $6.9 million in
interest charges.

The results imply that S.A.C., which held a 9.9% stake in Wet Seal as
of Dec. 31, found a cheap way to break in on the teen fashion
specialty-retail business, where Wall Street darlings like Abercrombie
& Fitch (ANF - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr), American Eagle Outfitters
(AEOS - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr) and Pacific Sunwear (PSUN -
Cramer's Take - Stockpickr) have been delivering some of the highest
returns in the stock market in recent years. Wet Seal now operates
about 300 namesake stores across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, as well as
93 under the Arden B nameplate."
