Great summary of the conf call Declan, thanks again.

As you know but others don't, I also made the decision to increase my
shareholding in WNR recently and am already nicely in the black on
that - concerns around the crack spread aside 2011/12 looks a very
rosy environment indeed for refiners.

Well I felt 'out in the cold' after selling my WNR shares, so decided
to buy back into them approx. 1 week ago.

Anyhow just thought that I would post a few key notes which I jotted
down from the CC yesterday:

Firstly it seemed that they could not say ‘unprecedented margin’
enough of times in each reply to the analysts!! during the call

Deceided to take proifits today. It's been a huge move over the past
10/14 days from $10.00. So I finally decided to lock in the profit
today. Thanks so much for your insight. It has made a HUGE difference
with WNR. What a move we have enjoyed.

And outperforming Western is! Although it was part of a longer term
portfolio rebalance and risk management, a part of me does wish that
I'd held on a month before selling off a substantial proportion of
holdings. Still, no complaints..

Refining results should be very strong indeed, although that is
expected too which is reflected in the sharp price rises over the last
6 months.

The question is how individual refiners like WNR perform relative to
analyst expectations, and my money remains in the company to
outperform.

Certainly the quote from Valero's earnings release ' "The global
economic recovery is underway with very strong growth in developing
countries contributing to a surge in global demand for oil and refined
products," Valero said, is very encouraging.

What are the expectations for the refining results due out next week?
Certainly WNR has taken a bit of a beating over the past few days, but
it has (more or less) moved with the general refining sector. How do
you all feel the beginning of the refiners results season next week
will play out with the sector?

If you took an additional position at $8.90 then you should be fine -
as with my remaining (substantial) holding, just be prepared to ride
out any market downturn and not sell if the stock falls back
significantly as part of a wider market movement.

I did the opposite. I had a buy order in at 9.20 for extra a few weeks
back but then changed this down to 8.90 which was filled on the 17th
December - so I am going to sit this out. The momentum seems to be
strong here at the moment. I also think that the New year Stock
momentum will drive this further along with many other stocks, for all

I did the same. Not from any analysis of WNR, but needing some
liquidity, this stock was where I felt I would lose the least by
jumping out at this time

Not wanting to rain on the parade on Western, but I sold 20,000 shares
on opening - approximately half my position.

My reasoning is primarily one of opportunity cost rather than not
seeing WNR as a continued strong hold for 2011, but I also see a
significant market pull back in Q1 2011 as a definite possibility when
