Vic - you haven't posted on the XL board for a while.  What is your
opinion of XL and their likely Q1 results?  Still looking good in your
opinion?  You can answer there if you prefer.  I'm still holding at
least until the quarterly results - but preferably until sometime in
2010.

I haven't bought any Afren yet, but it is starting to look more
attractive at these levels.  I'll probably stick my toe in the water
next week.

Vic,

I'm very interested in your private forum. Here are the details you
require:

1) What's your occupation / degree course if student
Studying a BSc in Mathematics, I have been offered a place at LSE to
study a Masters in Financial Mathematics next year.

2) How often do you invest
Really depends on the markets. Lately with the increased volatility,
it's been inter-weekly.Will probably invest monthly if I start
working.

3) Do you have any area of expertise that others may learn from as
well as youself learning from others.
I'm still young, only 21, so I haven't got a lot of life experience to
offer. I've been reading a lot of finance books on top of my degree.
(Investments by Bodie, the famous Hull book for strategist and
quants...)
I've worked at Lehman Brothers for a year in their fixed income
department.
I mainly concentrate on financials, mining and oil.
All in all, my portfolio is up over 300% from this year alone.

Oh, I'm currently in talks with someone regarding an internship at Man
Group as well.

I hope this helps in determining whether I'm an adequate candidate for
your forum.

Please contact me MRL...@hotrmail.com

zzzzDad sorry yeah not been on Xl - sold everthing at $6.17 even my
long stock. Posted today.
G20 mentioning tax heavens being banished / shut down / heavy
restrictions made me think people will run from XL.  Ok I dont think
long term it actually dents them, especially in this market, but in at
$2.65 so sold FOR NOW.  And back in after I see this G20 thing pan out
a little bit.  Hit $6, target is $8 - $9.  Took dividend.  So back in
later

Have my eye on multiple stocks.  Made a decent whack on FDI Diamonds -
which I had as a sleeping giant and just paid off with 100% gain this
week also.  Im not usually this lucky but everything I tought his year
has soared.  I even just brought a house (hence why I sold some XL
early as needed the cash) and house prices went up 0.9% for the first
month in ages... lucky f***er.... taking profits when I can as down
days will hit me.

Anyway

I get you guys in the forum - just not had time.  insurance world is
manic and prices have been flying upwards.  BROKERS in insuarance
making a killing.  Insurers so so as they are cutting back so much.
Hence shares in a cheap broker long may be worth a pop.

Looking to SHORT tax heaven style companies, not XL, but ones similar
that are fat.  CAymen islands, anything thats listed

Afren is pumping back.  I even posted to buy on this window we had ont
he share drop back from IDIOTS thinking the delay in results is a bad
thing.  Just a very small company doing VERY VERY well.  I mean they
just found a SHED LOAD of oil so need to revise it.  Went in with more
first thing today and wooooooooo,

hoping for 50 - 60 post results.  News on listing / confirmation they
will goto LSX in future will really help also.  Profits will be
smallish as they are pumping oil but slower start than the best,  But
new oil finds = way way under priced stock.

Boom time

I get you guys in.  If you post comments (decent ones) and active,
then you can stay. Just obviously need to be careful and limit the
idiots, yet Afren board, there is none.  The whole idea was to avoid
the idiots that lie and shout

"IVE JUST SHORTED THIS AT $8 ITS GOING UNDER" "MY MATE JUST ABOUT TO
BUY THIS STOCK, HE IS A BILLIONARE" etc etc rubbish

Cheers

Hey Vic,
I would also really like to be invited and I think I could add a
little diversity to your forum.
I'm a 26 year old girl, and I live in South Florida.

1. What's your occupation / degree course if student?
My degree is in finance from Wake Forest University, just graduated
last year (took a while ;)). I've been working
at Northwestern Financial for about 6 months - it's a nothing job so I
spend alot of time online researching my next move.

2. How often do you invest?
I've been trading a lot lately, with all of this volatility but once
we start to even out, probably once or twice a week.

3) Do you have any area of expertise that others may learn from as
well as youself learning from others?

I'm still learning but I'm eager to gather information and I watch the
news like crazy, as well as stay up on
press releases, news reports, etc.I work in a very prominent art
gallery and have alot of high-profile clients who
offer me insight once in a while.

I hope you'll consider me for the forum.
Thanks in advance,

Hi Vic,

1) whats your occupation / degree course if student
-I have undergrad in IT, and just got my finance MBA a few years ago.
I work in the internet field again and I am based in California, USA.

2) How often do you invest
-Started investing last year after having my portfolio run by an
adviser for a long time.  I've been making making a greater amount of
trades lately.  But really want to do some heavier purchases when/if
the market pulls back again.

3) Do you have any area of expertise that others may learn from as
well as youself learning from others.
-I haven't utilized my industry knowledge and experience yet when
investing.  Instead I have been focusing on the financial/auto/
foreign, stocks. And also paying particular attention to the energy
sector and renewal/clean energy companies.

First saw your posts when I started investing in XL, and followed them
when you wrote about Afren.  Google forums are a nice place, but they
can denigrate to sophomoric name calling.  Just looking to join a
group of solid and serious investors for mutual exchange of tips and
information.

Thanks and hope you will send me an invite to your private forum.  If
you do, please email it to me at tlwilliams1983 at gmail.

2. How often do you invest?

markets daily.

3) Do you have any area of expertise that others may learn from as
well as yourself learning from others.
-As a part of my job I train college laboratory students and pathology
residents so I can take what I know to try my best to answer questions
about various biotech companies. I'm eager to learn more about other
industries and potential investments with other respectable
individuals. From what I've read on your posts about XL I was able to
make a sizeable profit and I'd like the opportunity to return the

Caza Oil & Gas, Inc

Just been looking at their balance sheets, very clean. They're in a
strong position and ready for expansion...

I took a punt on this at 3, I should have averaged down a little when
it went below 2, but I wasn't sure how long  it'll be before oil and
gas picks up again.
It seems to be picking up now, get in whilst you can - not sure if
there's going to be any profit taking after today's rally, I'm sure
not selling my shares....

Funny it coming from the Bank of American - who arent actually a
proper analyst for this stock.  Plus there revised prediction is 50%
that of others who are far better posting out full analysis of the
area and Afren in detail

PLUS - slightly ironic its come from tha Bank of American when,
Americans still cant buy Afren until the 25th May due to the new share
offering and old SEC rule (see zzzdad above)

At the moment we are trading a pure UK market place.  When the doors
open, at decent levels, volume will only sustain and hold the price up
(not sure about upwards but at least solid foundations)

before back in Jan when i posted this their 2009 cash flow estiamte
was $200m - hence was trading below one years return, NOT taking into
account any assets or future finds.  Now we have THE NEW oil finds,
and oil prices stabilising, the forecast for cash flow will close to
double.  Hence at 50 pence we will still be trading below 12 months
cash flow value - which you would agree is absolutely insane
way under priced
