I ran across this stock when I ran screen for small caps with strong
fundamentals and both accelerating revenue growth (More than its
competitors) and eps. I'm wondering why it is just hanging out in this
twelve dollar range? Anyone else long on CVLT?

The fundamentals look really good.  Lots of cash, no debt, growing...
They are expanding internationally.  They are buying back $40M of
stock off the market.  Everything looks really good.  This whole
market sector has been hammered in the last 3-6 months.  I also follow
Double Take (DBTK) which has also been hammered.  Both companies make
computer disaster recovery products.... both hammered for no apparent
reason.  Personally, I think the dips in both of these stocks are
buying opportunities that will be rewarded... thus I have bought both.

Don't know if you like Motley Fool or not, but DBTK is a Fool Stock
Advisor recommendation and both stocks are favorably looked upon in
CAPS.

I see nothing not to like in both stocks.  The quarterly announcements
over the next month will be interesting.  Short term, with good
quarterly reports I think there will be a modest gain but with
recesssion fears I expect the stock price will remain somewhat
depressed.  Once recession fears lessen, I think the 1-2 year
prospects are very positive to go back into the 20-30 range or
beyond.  A bad quarterly report would be interesting, both stocks are
already over sold and the share prices are already backed by a
significant percentage of cash.  A bad quarterly might lead to a drop
in price and then a buy out since it would be so under valued....

Just some thoughts.
MM.

Yes..I am. I bought in after researching for undervalued stocks. I am
totally satisfied with this one. I have built my position, and this is
one that has everything going for it. Low profile, niche markets,
inovation (recent patents) an lots of financial sability. A real
winner. I am very long, dont count on a buyer...just on the intrrensic
qualities of the company. I am buying more as it climbs too. I also am
strapped in for the volitility. Its like putting you chips down on the
roulette table and they let you keep them there for a week or 3 months
till you hit!

I ran some of the same screens and come up with CVLT too.  Reuters
ranks it "Outperform" and S&P gives it a "Strong Buy" (5 out 5
stars).  As of 4/11/08, S&P has a 12-month target of $20.00.
FirstCall has a "Buy", but 9 of 14 analysts have a Buy or Hold rating,
leaving room for upgrades.

I like S&P's analysis:

"Our strong buy opinion is based on our view of
an oversold position in the shares. We see
strong growth trends in CVLT's core business
and non-backup emerging products, especially
internationally.We think partnerships with Dell
and Microsoft enhance its competitive position.
Given our favorable view of CVLT's capital
structure, and strong free cash flow, we expect
the $40 million share repurchase plan announced
on February 6, 2008, to be completed
fairly quickly at current share prices."

So, the reason the stock has fallen in price since 11/07 is that
institutions have been selling heavily, making for an "oversold"
situation..  Obviously institutions have been raising cash to cover
redemptions or other needs.  This is no knock on CVLT.  And it makes
for an easy way for CVLT management to use the considerable cash hoard
and take shares off the market.

I think this stock will be a big winner.

Dave

From a fundamentals standpoint, it's hard to criticize cvlt. Something
worth noting however is the large institutional ownership. With a
market cap of $550 million dollars and 95% institutional ownership how
much do the fundamentals really matter? $27.5 million in private
hands. Why have the funds bought in so heavily?
I suppose these are questions you could ask about any stock with large
fund ownership. Thoughts?

I think institutions like the fact that Microsoft owns a big block of
CVLT shares, representing an indorsement of CVLT beyond MSFT's routine
certification.

I do not know i have lof of knowledge about this company and yes it
looks all pretty OK but the senior management is not capable of
managing a company which is noted on the stockmarket. A drop of more
then 30% after an analyst meeting is really stupid.

I believe that CV will be bought soon for 25-30 dollars.

I am in, always the day I want to buy it shoots up 2% - so I paid .30
cents more for it than I wanted too, I believe the stock is a serious
growth play and undervalued under $14 at least.  Macro conditions
worry me but it looks like tech is showing some signs of recovery.

I am a beginner investor so please bare with me, when a stock
essentially flat-lines, meaning the price channel gets tighter and
tighter, it does indicate that the stock is headed for a change,
either sharply moving up or down.  Is this an accurate statement?

It turns out that yes, when a stock flat-lines it is headed for a big
change either up or down, that is the professional consensus on the
matter.

greedy, I am out at 15.10.   I still believe this stock could hit $17
relatively soon - good luck to all.
