Subject: Make your guesses here! What's up?
CBAK up moderately dramatically even for this historically volatile
company, on high volumes. No news released. What's up? Of course you
don't know any better than I do! But someone has some hint of some
news to be released soon to have set this off ... and what the Hell,
let's some wild guesses as to what that news may be!

- HP finally makes its large order?
- HP also takes a large stake in CBAK? (Crazy rumor on Yahoo about an
HP take-over notwithstanding)
- That Chinese company that GM is selling Hummer to intends on making
Hummer an EV and using CBAK batteries in it?
- The Chinese auto concern liked the product and has placed a large
order?
- Or just that some major player decided that CBAK is a good play and
the spike of one large order set off the sheep to come braying on in?

What are your guesses? The wilder the better!

(Like I said before when this company pops it pops quickly and you
really do not want to be out of it when it does. How fully invested in
it to stay as the sheep do come flocking in, and how much to take off
the table at what price point - assuming that it will drop a bit back
down - is the next question. $4? $5? .... I think that I'll take a
fraction off once it hits $5. And I will unsurprised if there is some
real news released and it does hit that fairly quickly ...)

Y'know, that speculation about Hummer may not be so crazy ...

http://www.reuters.com/article/wtUSInvestingNews/idUSTRE5512F220090602

>>Based in the Chinese province of Sichuan, Tengzhong makes special-use vehicles, highway and bridge structural components, construction machinery, and energy facilities. ... GM said the investor would fund future vehicles for Hummer and invest in alternatives to the heavy gas-guzzling engines that are the hallmark of the brand.<<

Nah.

:)

Check out RZ  Razer  they claim they can get 100mpg out of a Hummer/
SUV without significant loss of power.

And yes I do suspect that Tengzhoung plans on eventually going that
way, and who knows, maybe CBAK will be a supplier. But actually I
doubt that that's the "news" if there is any, that's more of a long
term issue ... nearer term the big profit driver for CBAK will be
laptop batteries. Honestly my guess is that some "in the know" have a
whiff that those sales are starting to tick up dramatically as China
recovers. And HP is under pressure to have a supplier they can rely on
for safe product in high volumes. Just last week (May 26, 2009) they
had this happen:
http://it-cost-reduction.tmcnet.com/topics/business-continuity/articl...

>>Hewlett-Packard is once again facing battery trouble, as the company has recalled 15,000 laptop batteries distributed in China over concerns about overheating laptops.

The batteries in question are used in HP Pavilion, Compaq Presario and
HP Compaq models, according to a Reuters report. HP China will replace
the batteries for free, the report said. ... This is the second laptop
battery recall this month from HP, the top laptop maker in the
world. ... <<

The recall earlier in the month was for 70000 batteries. Both from a
different unnamed Chinese supplier.

It would make sense for HP to finally switch to a supplier with a
better safety record and reliable production. Heck, it would even make
sense for HP to take an equity position in such a company in order to
assure the QA process - as has been rumored elsewhere. (I doubt that
however.)

But speculations are just that. I WANT NEWS!

And more on an EV Hummer:  http://www.autobloggreen.com/

>>Jim Taylor, the man who was put in charge of the brand to get it ready for sale and who will reportedly stay on to lead HUMMER under its new ownership. ... "a ground-up hybrid or electric vehicle, [would] make a lot of sense for the Hummer brand" since it "would help us change our image." What are the chances we'll see an electric, hybrid or otherwise alternatively-fueled HUMMER within the next five years? "I think five years out, excellent, assured. It's 100%," says Taylor. <<

So who knows? Maybe!

Probably a case of all of what's happening with Cbak.....and it seems
they are just starting to move into view of a lot of new investors ie.
the increase in per day trading........We've all watched this company
work it's way through the business cycle, and they have done it
right.....I also think that people are becoming more aware of the
China Syndrome.....they have "slowed" down to 8% increase
GDP......???...OH, how horrible!!!......China WILL start it's recovery
soon, if not already, and I think smart money is moving in......I
think it's just the Company itself......plus the future potentials
you've pointed out that drew us all too this stock........that's my
2c.......let's hope it's a wild ride up the ladder..........

Not so sure there's gonna be too many more dips. :)

Another day with large volume - more than 3x avg - and a healthy rise
in a market that overall is flat to slightly down, while other battery
players are pretty flat across the board too (eg. VLNC down 1.5%, HEV
up only 0.69%, ALTI down 2.85%, even BYD down 2.6%) and even the
Chinese index is down some. This doesn't seem to be the sheep; this is
some big player(s) taking big positions based on something that they
have reason to believe is real.

And yet a week into this higher volume pushing prices up there are not
even any strong rumors?

Gawd I want to know what's up!

years).....something is going on and we'll be the last to find
out......this dawg's got the scent, and it's starting to
hunt.......hing in there rk......

A bit more from there but not much. I envy your having cash to invest
right now! Me, I'm trying to hang on to this and selling other things
to pay for number two's college.

Meanwhile I stumbled onto this not so old article and thought some
might find it of interest: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/02/business/global/02electric.html?_r=...

>>Chinese leaders have adopted a plan aimed at turning the country into one of the leading producers of hybrid and all-electric vehicles within three years, and making it the world leader in electric cars and buses after that. ... from the very top of the Chinese government ... “China is well positioned to lead in this,” said David Tulauskas, director of China government policy at General Motors.

To some extent, China is making a virtue of a liability. It is behind
the United States, Japan and other countries when it comes to making
gas-powered vehicles, but by skipping the current technology, China
hopes to get a jump on the next. ... Beyond manufacturing, subsidies
of up to $8,800 are being offered to taxi fleets and local government
agencies in 13 Chinese cities for each hybrid or all-electric vehicle
they purchase. The state electricity grid has been ordered to set up
electric car charging stations in Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin.

Government research subsidies for electric car designs are increasing
rapidly. And an interagency panel is planning tax credits for
consumers who buy alternative energy vehicles.

China wants to raise its annual production capacity to 500,000 hybrid
or all-electric cars and buses by the end of 2011, from 2,100 last
year, government officials and Chinese auto executives said. ...

... Premier Wen Jiabao highlighted the importance of electric cars two
years ago with his unlikely choice to become minister of science and
technology: Wan Gang, a Shanghai-born former Audi auto engineer in
Germany who later became the chief scientist for the Chinese
government’s research panel on electric vehicles. ...

... Electric cars have several practical advantages in China.
Intercity driving is rare. Commutes are fairly short and frequently at
low speeds because of traffic jams. So the limitations of all-electric
cars — the latest models in China have a top speed of 60 miles an hour
and a range of 120 miles between charges — are less of a
problem. ...<<
