I'm not able to open it, but great things must be coming since this
stock keeps eating prices every day.

I have been invested heavily in CBAK for two years, waiting patiently
for the kind of news released in the two July 7 news releases by the
company:

1)  On June 24, 2009, Mr. Binggang Wang, the officer in charge of "863
Program" Energy-Saving and New Energy Automobile Project Consulting
Group from the Ministry of Science and Technology, and eleven experts
from China Automotive Technology and Research Center visited China
BAK.

This visit was authorized by Department of Industry Coordination of
the National Development and Reform Commission, aimed to update the
latest developments in key components industrialization related to new
energy automobile.

Dr. Zhongyi Deng, the CBAK's R&D Department director reported our
progress on electric vehicles power battery development and presented
attendees our latest power battery samples. Experts highly appraised
the battery safety design philosophy and recommended the company to
send samples to the National Technology Center for testing as quickly
as possible. The expert team visited our R&D Department and automated
production lines later.

On behalf of the National Development and Reform Commission, the
expert team fully affirmed our precise attitude towards battery
research and development. They expect the company to accelerate high
power battery industrialization process and make a contribution to the
National strategy of developing new energy automobile industry.

2)  On June 27, 2009, a group of officials led by Mr. Zhongwen Gou, a
Deputy Mayor of Beijing visited our company's Cylindrical Cells
Manufacturing Plant; visitors highly praised our automated production
lines.

BAK was recommended to Mr. Gou by an American Company which produces
Battery Management System for Electric Vehicle ("the American
Company"). The Deputy Mayor applauded our achievements in the R&D of
power battery used in electric automobile; he looked forward to a
close cooperation between our company and the American Company to
accelerate the development of new energy automobile industry

This suggests that both regional and national government authorities
who can stir the pot and make things happen are excited about CBAK's
power battery research and the demonstration of its capabilities
witnessed while visiting CBAK's plant.  It is  interesting to me that
they visited the cylindrical battery production line but observed
demonstrations and received samples of CBAK's power batteries (a
completely different technology, using lithium phosphate rather than
the cobalt salt of lithium found in the cylindrical batteries (laptop
batteries).

Thank you all for alerting me to these news releases.  I may add to my
already excessive holdings of CBAK.

Who might be this unnamed "American Company?"

I've been invested in this company for just as long, although I doubt
as heavily as you are.  In any case, I feel like this is the typical
news almost plaguing the company.  It creates a glossy veneer and
amazing outlook, but somehow, they never seem to be able to capitalize
on these outstanding prospects.  As always, I'm cautiously optimistic
with this stock.  I'd love to watch it run like it has in recent
years, but sustained prices won't occur until they can create
continuous revenue.  For some reason, they're excellent at not doing
that.  Hopefully this signals a change in the winds of fortune, but I
can't put any faith into a serious turn until money comes in the door.

I don't think that CBAK is a regular supplier of HP, yet, despite two
years of work on CBAK's part to prepare themselves to become such.
Nevertheless, CBAK is already selling a large volume of cylindrical
cells and I suspect that they will have to ramp up further if HP
begins to use CBAK as one of its primary suppliers of laptop and
netbook batteries.   For at least a year, CBAK denied that they were
making power cells for automobiles.  Probably true.  However, it is
clear that they are preparing for that day and that both Chinese auto
companies and an unnamed "American Company" are following their
progress carefully and very pleased with what they have seen, thus
far.  When that day comes, CBAK will explode.  Yes, they will have to
raise more funds to ramp up, but it will all be to our benefit.  They
will be a key player in a rapidly growing market, rather than trying
to catch up to American, Japanese, and Korean companies that are
already well established manufacturers and suppliers.  You have to
believe that Mr. Li expects to benefit from his investment of time and
money, someday.

The general trend of this stock has been down for the last month,
paralleling the path of the Chinese security market in general.  I
don't expect great things from CBAK in the near term, unless there is
an unanticipated rise in earnings for the spring quarter.  Chinese
investors are not patient, long-term or even intermediate-term
investors, in my experiencee.  The company will have to begin earning
money rather than simply growing market share to begin moving
upwards.

That's has been the point I've made on this board a couple of times
during the last year.  I don't see how the company is going to begin
earning money when they have a track record of not being able to do
so?  I know they have interesting prospects, but value creation is not
a strong suit for them.

I speak as one with great expectations for this company and for my
investment in it. These hints at future big deals - HP, auto
contracts, etc. - are wonderful; I expect one or more to come through
"any day now" and for the stock to explode rapidly when any of them
do. They are in great position to take off ... But more talk from them
about these deals in progress is not what we need. What need is an
actual deal announced and actual sales using their new and improved
capacity. Announce a final deal with HP. Or with SAIC. Or any other
major Chinese auto maker. Or that unnamed American concern (so long as
it isn't ZAP! Ah, ABAT is stuck with them. Whew.) But a real in their
hands deal. Until then its stock price will do a random walk pushed up
and down by the overall interest in the Chinese market only. Being in
a great position to take off does not help if you stay perrenially
crouched in the blocks.

At least sales have increased and the company continues to expand --
it is now ramping up its power cell lines as it did with the
cylindrical cell capacity a year ago.  It has two busy, growing lines
of goods: cylindrical cells for laptops and aluminum prismatic cell
batteries for cell phones.  It has a small but growing polymer cell
business and a resurrected power cell line that is in its "sales of
samples" phase but is ramping up lines to greatly expand production
capacity, purportedly for power hand tools and electric bicycles, but
quite possibly for electric carts, small EVs and HEVs.  The EV and HEV
market will transform the company.   Getting HP to sign on is now just
one more large evolutionary step, no longer transformative.  Despite
this company's past record of screwing its existing small investors in
favor of large provate placements, and now pretty onerous employee
stock options, I continue to believe that we will be rewarded over the
next year or two, especially if there is an overall market recovery in
China that is lasting.  I may be stupid, but I'm hanging in there with
a little more than 12% of my assets in this company.
