And yes I do suspect that Tengzhoung plans on eventually going that
way, and who knows, maybe CBAK will be a supplier. But actually I
doubt that that's the "news" if there is any, that's more of a long
term issue ... nearer term the big profit driver for CBAK will be
laptop batteries. Honestly my guess is that some "in the know" have a
whiff that those sales are starting to tick up dramatically as China
recovers. And HP is under pressure to have a supplier they can rely on
for safe product in high volumes. Just last week (May 26, 2009) they
had this happen:

The recall earlier in the month was for 70000 batteries. Both from a
different unnamed Chinese supplier.

It would make sense for HP to finally switch to a supplier with a
better safety record and reliable production. Heck, it would even make
sense for HP to take an equity position in such a company in order to
assure the QA process - as has been rumored elsewhere. (I doubt that
however.)

But speculations are just that. I WANT NEWS!
